It is well known that Lucknow is the Mecca for biryani lovers. But Lalla Biryani is the holy grail. What the place lacks in ambience, it more than makes up for through the amazing taste of its mutton biryani. Its a nondescript eatery tucked away in a by-lane in the Chowk area. The biryani is flavourful and the mutton is cooked to melt in the mouth. It is an absolute gem. From the aroma to the tender meat, to the exact right degree of cooked rice, you are likely to find everything to be just perfect. There are people who swear by the name of Zeeshan and their tasty mutton kebabs and mutton biryani. It is largely claimed to taste better than other popular eateries in Lucknow. You have to taste it for yourself and feel the difference. Zeeshan’s preparation is mouth-watering, fresh, delicious. Add to that, their service is quick and prompt. This is largely a takeaway joint. Actually, the area thrives because of many such small and medium restaurants selling delicacies based on kebabs and biryani.

Tip from Trip101 local expert
The local cuisine of a place speaks volumes about its culture. Equally famous for its Kebabs and Nawabs (a royal title bestowed upon the princely rulers), Lucknow is a foodie's paradise. Although the Nawabs are long gone, the kebabs remain alive and kicking!
The streets of the city are dotted with eateries, each serving mouth-watering delicacies. I was fortunate to visit the city in 2021 on a 2000-km-long road trip from New Delhi to Guwahati. The 2nd phase of the COVID pandemic was hot on our heels, which made the trip somewhat daunting yet adventurous.
I am drooling over succulent pieces of meat, grilled to perfection, waiting for my dinner at Dastarkhwan Lalbagh.

Mouthwatering delicacies, supplemented by quick service makes this restaurant perfect for a family outing for dinner. The quantity of dishes is ample and is very reasonably priced. Completely worth going time and again. It is located right at the heart of Gomti Nagar. While you will find a lot of eateries around it, non-veg food here is excellent. It’s also close to many Oyo rooms in the area, making it quite accessible to visitors. Try biryani or any other non-veg curry. They have a road-side “chaat” counter at the entrance and they also have a fine dining menu inside. The menu is vast with options for North Indian, Asian, and Chinese dishes.
