During your stay, make some time to visit the nearby Teatro Massimo. This popular opera house was a filming location for the iconic film, The Godfather, and was even included in the book. It is still regularly used as a performing arts venue and gets lots of visitors every year.
The architecture of this building is incredible, though it has to be noted that the wooden frames of the doors and windows could do with some TLC. Nevertheless, it's still a beautiful building!

Tip from Content Creator
If you're planning a visit to Palermo, here are my thoughts on the city!
So, I loved and, let’s say, disliked a few things about Palermo.
It’s a very Italian city, with a lot of Italian charm. The food is wonderful, there are a lot of small markets throughout the city, and the people are super nice. However, I found it to be quite a dirty city. If you leave the central upscale area of Palermo, you will see that the city is full of piled-on garbage just lying around. I also read online that some issues with corruption and gang activity caused the city to become like this, however, I would love to know more from a local.
Public transportation is quite accessible, with a lot of rental options and quite a lot of buses. However, buying a ticket is difficult. I was informed by the bus driver that people are not allowed to buy tickets on the bus. Instead, you can buy tickets at AMAT kiosks and most tobacco shops.
Would I return to Palermo despite the few quirks? Hell yeah!
