Uncrowded and almost like a private beach, Benaulim is a blend of south Goan calmness and lively, north Goan excitement. It is a wonderful beach with miles and miles of golden sand, with food shacks and water sports, like many of the other beaches in Goa. You can walk for miles, north to south, along the sandy beach, with the sea waves caressing and cooling your feet.

A good number of food shacks are here, serving drinks and good food at affordable prices. Don’t forget to try the crab xacuti, it is simply amazing. You can explore the beach by renting a bike.

Benaulim features an amazing sunset view - at around 5 to 6 pm, you can watch the red sun set in the west, into the Arabian Sea, while the bright moon appears in the east. Away from hustle and bustle of the city, the beach is the perfect place for beach bums to relax and regenerate their spirit.

2. Colva Beach

Posted by Avtar Lota on Wednesday, 17 September 2008

With its white sand and blue-green water, Colva Beach is lovely and one of the more happening beaches of South Goa, with a lot of water sports to take part in, like water skiing, paragliding and boating. Situated near the Margao Railway Station, it’s more quiet and far less commercial than the northern beaches.

The beach runs for approximately 18 km (11.2 miles), in an almost straight line. Colva has a long street, full of shops, banks, change bureaus, restaurants, and hotels. It’s fun to be on this beach in the evening when the place comes alive and gets very lively. If you like a busy and bustling atmosphere, you will love it, here.

3. Margao Market

Margao Market offers a lot for visitors and locals. It has amazing ambience and a wide variety of goods. You can buy genuine authentic Goan products here, including things used daily by locals, vegetables, meat, spices, garments, fabrics, local crafts made from bamboo, straw or grass, woodwork, pottery and metalware, all in one location.

Tourists will love this place but the only drawback is the bazaar weaves through narrow lanes, stretching all the way from the main square to the old railway station. Wandering through the bazaar, you can pick up typical Goan memorabilia, antiques, and souvenirs.
