Constantly ranked as one of the top beaches in the world (yes! Not India, not Asia, but the world), Agonda is what I consider a perfect tropical stage for a Goan holiday. White sandy beaches, splendid sunsets, lines of cozy beach shacks and upscale beach huts, and dreamy boat rides. Butterfly and Honeymoon beaches are just a boat ride away. Also, I heard that Agonda is one of the best beaches for swimming so catching the sun is a must for any visit. Keep in mind that South Goa is a lot more seasonal than the North, meaning that most businesses remain shut from May till October/November. If you like local experiences like me, renting a scooter and discovering the many little villages of Agonda would be nice activities. Spotting dolphins on a local fisherman’s boat during the early morning hours is another.

Goa is very clearly divided into two parts - the North, which is known for its crazy parties and discreet raves, and the South, which is where you go to recharge your batteries. But, if there is one spot in the South where I can always have the best of both worlds, it is at Palolem Beach. If you only have a few days in the south, this is definitely where you should stay because everything that you can think of (and then some) is within easy reach. I am no stranger to some of Palolem’s amazing cafes and restaurants - Dropadi’s is a seafood haven while Zest has some of the best vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu. Worried about the nightlife here? Don’t be! Palolem is the only place where you can enjoy a Silent Noise Party - yes, the ones with headphones and different DJs playing their sets on different channels!
30. Three Kings Church; Kansavlim

If you recognize this modest church from Bollywood movies like Bhootnath: Part 1 and Finding Fanny, let’s be friends! The Three Kings Church, often regarded as one of the top attractions in the state, dates back to 1599 and has somewhat of a “haunted” tag. Legends say that the church is possessed by the ghosts of the Three Portuguese Kings who once resided there. As the story goes, in their obsession with being the most powerful, one of the kings killed the other two and committed suicide by poison shortly after fearing retaliation by the followers of the deceased kings. Haunted or not, I believe that the Church is a must-visit spot, especially during the Feast of the Three Kings celebration held on January 6th each year marking the official end of the Christmas season. I prefer to visit here during the day because the tranquility of this place at sundown can effortlessly scare me.
31. Cabo de Rama Fort; Canacona

When I think of Goa, a shoreline flanked by swaying palms and lofty mountains, peaceful churches, and fascinating fort ruins always comes to mind. Cabo de Rama is where you find it all. Not to be mistaken with Fort Aguada of Dil Chahta Hai (Gotcha!) fame, it is the largest one in the state and among the oldest in the country. Mythology has it that this is where Lord Rama, along with his wife and brother, sought refuge during his 14-year exile, hence the name. Myth or not, the Fort has certainly witnessed several gruesome battles. Despite the horrid past, the ruins now offer you some of the best views of the Arabian Sea. Aside from the fort itself and the namesake beach, I also recommend visiting St. Anthony’s Chapel and the sunset point. Keep in mind that the last entry is at 5:20pm.
32. Mollem National Park; Molen

Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary is the largest national park in Goa, and Mollem National Park is an integral part of the sanctuary. First things first, if you are going to visit here, it is best to dedicate an entire day because there is so much to see and do. And, I suggest you do it in the monsoon season! Yes, you heard it right. The lush landscape of Mollem is in its full bloom during the rains. Hiking, trekking, and 4x4 jungle safaris are some of the best activities to enjoy here. But, that’s not all! Did you know that Mollem National Park is located near Dudhsagar Falls? And, you can go camping within the Dudhsagar Plantation. Whenever I get exhausted by the deafening EDM and techno parties, cheap booze, and intoxicating vibe, Mollem offers me the best chance to disconnect and explore an unseen Goa.
Pro tip: Unfortunately, Mollem has been at the forefront of a controversy regarding the Goa Government’s decision to implement three infrastructural projects that endanger the park and the Sanctuary (#SaveMollem). Nobody knows what’s happening for sure, but it’s best to visit soon before everything changes!

Goa is one of the few places in India offering scuba diving. Diving in Goa is not the best owing to limited underwater visibility, but it is still popular among tourists. The water life and the variety of creatures you get to see are quite amazing. Multiple beaches offer diving facilities, and Atlantis Watersports is one of the companies that organizes scuba diving trips.

35. Shopping in cities
Best for: Tourists, couples
Goa is perfect for shopaholics. Its funky and beachy vibe will surely be a threat to your pockets. There are many shopping malls in Goa but the best shopping is done from the stalls near the beaches. The Mapusa Market, Anjuna Flea Market, Calangute Market Square, and many other markets serve as top shopping spots in Goa. Night bazaars at different places such as Anjuna Beach are also organized. The market at Dona Paula is another famous shopping spot.

I would definitely recommend 18th June Road in Panjim for those looking to shop. The Bombay Bazar is one of the best malls on this street. I usually buy Indian ethnic wear and bags from here. The road also has local eateries, such as Gujrat Lodge, Fidalgo, and more. A tattoo parlor, electronic shops, salons, cashew shops (that Goa is acclaimed for), and so much more can also be found here. I like to visit this street for a wholesome experience, with everything close by.
