The Kondana Caves and Waterfalls are situated in a small village known as Kondana which is 33 kilometres (20.5 mi) north of Lonavala hill station and 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) northwest of the Karla Caves. Charlotte Lake is the main source of drinking water in Matheran. The Pisarnath Temple, an ancient temple, is situated at one end of it and it also has two beautiful picnic spots, Louisa Point and Echo Point. The best time to see Louisa Lake is during the monsoon as the waterfalls spill out around the lake making it a splendid site to see. The waterfalls dry up in the summer season but the the lake continues to shine, which draws huge crowds round the year.
