The history of Rosenberg can be traced back to the year 1880 when the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railways extended its path till the West of Richmond city. In the year 1881, this city was selected for setting up headquarters for the New York, Texas and Mexican Railway. The town is named after Henry von Rosenberg, the first president of Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railroad, who chose this city as his home. This entire area used to be a cotton firm, which was acquired by the city of Rosenberg in the year 1993. Later, with the economic help of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, this entire nature park was built. The park is sure to charm the bird-watchers, as there is an entire area dedicated to the development of hummingbirds, prairie birds, bees and butterflies. There is a huge wetland in this nature park, which is the home of dragonflies, beetles, snails, marine worms, and crawfish. These creatures are a food source of the birds, frogs, water snakes, turtles, deer, and raccoons. The bird sanctuary and the butterfly garden are also the most visited places in this nature park.
