What do you get when you take what was previously a landfill, transform it, and reshape it into a public park and preserve? Well, the Norman J Levy Park and Preserve, of course. This public park is a great space for all in Merrick to enjoy, as it provides ample room for many an activity. Whether you choose to take part in some kayaking, hiking, or fishing - there is plenty fun to be had in the sun, when in Norman J Levy Park and Preserve.

Having opened its doors to the public and donned an entirely new persona in 2002, this public park, (once a landfill), is a great example of the transformative power of time and effort, when the intent is true and steadfast.

Take a walk on the infamous boardwalk, along the even more famous Long Beach, and find your serenity as you meander an afternoon away, wistfully enchanted by the seaside glamour that catches every onlooker’s eye. At Long Beach, you’d be forgiven if you decided to forgo typical beach activities for a nap in the sunshine, or a couple of hours tucked into a meaty book.

Either way, you’ll want to while your day away when on Long Beach, and you can do so, with a guaranteed peaceful night’s sleep ahead, that comes from a day of some fun in the sun. The fact that Merrick is a mere 20-minute drive from Long Beach makes it a great place to go for sunsets, too - just imagine it - idyllic, to say the least.

Get in a game or two, while in Merrick, NY - and be sure to visit the Merrick Golf Course. Not only is there a 9 hole, par 36, immaculate greens, but there is also a driving range, for those golfing enthusiasts that just want to hit a few balls around. The 22 stall driving range makes use of irons only and is a good 160-yard driving range, at that.
