2. Fort Massac State Park
Fort Massac State Park is a great example of Illinois’s dedication to protecting the flora and fauna found within the state. The Fort Massac State Park is home to a replica 1802 American fort that is very interesting to explore.

3. Kincaid Mounds Archaeological Site
The Kincaid Mounds Archaeological Site is 105 acres (42 ha) of historical land that was home to native Chiefs between 1,000 and 700 years ago! Located just a short drive from Metropolis city centre, the Kincaid Mounds are easy to access. Kincaid has played a pivotal role in the development of archaeology in North America in the modern day.
The large, flat top mounds of Kincaid were once the homestead and temples of a highly functioning civil society. Countless Native American treasures have been found here. For history and archaeology enthusiasts, the Kincaid Mounds Archaeological Site is a must visit!

The George Clark Rodgers Discovery Trail is 9 miles (14 km) in length and starts at Superman Square.
