Jaycee Park Campground is situated near the entrance of Arches National Park. The shady camping sites are surrounded by towering cliffs, offering gorgeous views. This tent-only camping area accommodates guests on a first-come, first-served basis. You can find elevated views of Moab Valley from the nearby Portal Hiking Trailhead. If you do not mind highway noise, you can find the perfect spot to rest after canyoneering in the national park. Remember to bring water as the campsite does not provide any. A site ranger and a permanent staff are present to answer your questions about the best swimming holes and rock climbing spots in the area.

2. Moonflower Canyon Group Site

The tent-only campsite Moonflower Canyon Group Site is situated at the mouth of a canyon. The town center is 10 minutes away by car, and you only have to travel a short distance if you wish to enjoy mountain biking, 4x4 driving, and exploring hiking trails. Facilities in the campsite include picnic tables, a fire ring, and vault toilets. There are no electric hookups, so you can take the opportunity to disconnect from the modern world for a few days. The tent sites are shaded by cottonwood, ensuring a peaceful stay.

3. Up the Creek Campground

Up the Creek Campground is only five minutes away on foot from the town center. Even so, this campsite is a sanctuary for hikers who wish to spend a few days without internet and no electricity. Still, there is phone service, and the site has toilets, showers, and picnic tables for reserved guests. It is worth noting that campfires are not allowed. Slickrock Bike Trail is situated nearby. This tent-only campsite is also within walking distance of some of the best cafes and restaurants in town.

4. Ken’s Lake Campground

Ken’s Lake Campground offers spacious sites and facilities for overnight camping. The camp’s gravel parking pads can accommodate two vehicles. This site is situated at an elevation of about 5,085 feet (1,550 meters), so you can expect views of stunning red rocks and sage brush flats. Ken’s Lake Campground is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Moab by car and is situated within Ken’s Lake Recreation Area. The lake is a reservoir with equestrian and hiking trails as well as a gravel boat ramp.

5. Goose Island Campground

Goose Island Campground is situated 1.4 miles (2.3 kilometers) away from the highway on the riverside. There are two group sites that you can reserve online for your RV or for pitching a tent. The rest of the 20 individual campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Goose Island Campground is ideal for individuals or families planning to explore the natural wonders of Arches National Park. Since the park is located on the banks of the Colorado River, you can also go swimming. Remember to enter the water only when wearing a prescribed life jacket. Note that there are no hookups, and you have to bring drinking water as well.

6. Kings Bottom Campground

Kings Bottom Campground is a site along the Colorado River that accommodates tents and small recreational vehicles. It is located only 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) from Moab town center at an elevation of 3,937 feet (1,200 meters). If you prefer to be within driving distance of the nearest fast-food chain while spending the nights camped between canyon walls, this is the spot for you. There are 11 sites for walk-in guests with tents. There are a total of 21 sites separated by willow and cottonwood trees, and these are doled out on a first-come, first-served basis. This campground by the river is popular among campers, and there are toilets in the area for convenience.

7. Fisher Towers Campground

At Fisher Towers Campground, you can avail a small private space and enjoy access to clean toilet facilities. There are picnic tables and fire rings with grill attachments for fun outdoor dining. This campsite is your best pick if your main itinerary in Moab is hiking and stargazing. 8. Horsethief Group Campground

At the end of a gravel road, you can find Horsethief Group Campground on the mesas near Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands National Park. There are 85 individual sites in the campground that are surrounded by a pygmy pinyon-juniper forest. This site is ideal for campers with mountain bikes in tow as there are excellent trails nearby. The park offers both park-in and walk-in access. Five sites may be reserved if you call and book ahead. Horsethief Group Campground is less than 30 minutes away from Moab by car.

9. Lone Mesa Group Campground

10. Gold Bar Group Campground

Situated west of Moab, Gold Bar Recreation Site has a beach and a boat ramp on the Colorado River, as well as shade shelters for campers. You can expect to find picnic tables, fire grates, and vault toilets here. There are nine individual sites, and each spacious campsite can accommodate ten people and two vehicles. Spectacular scenery awaits hikers in the trailhead right across this campground. While here, you can spare a few hours visiting Poison Spider Mesa to see a dinosaur track trail.
