There are so many budget hotels to choose from in Legian district in Bali. If location is what you are most concerned with, Casa Padma Hotel & Suites, located on Padma Street, can be one of the best options. This is a nicely facilitated hotel, which is only a 5-minute walk to Legian Beach and close to almost everything in Legian.

Close to everywhere

Padma Street is one of the very touristy streets in Legian where you will find many restaurants and bars serving local and Western foods; along with several spas and shops within a very short walking distance. Right across from Casa Padma Hotel & Suites is one of the most popular bars in Legian called the Legian Pub, where there is live music every evening and they’re known for their delicious pizza and alcoholic beverages. Padma Sari, Yogi’s Grill, and Garlic Lane are among the restaurants in the neighborhood selling Balinese cuisines.

The river-like pool

One of the hotel’s highlights is the river-like, clean and green swimming pool. Not only is it surrounded by 3-storey buildings where guests staying on the first floor can have direct access to the pool (imagine yourself getting up in the morning to find a swimming pool right in front of you door!), but from the pool you can ask for some beverages from the pool bar. The pool water looks green due to the green tiles on the pool’s floor, which makes it look a bit like a natural tropical river or lake. The pool has a shallow area where kids can also have fun and enjoy swimming. If you need float rings for the kids, you can buy them at one of the convenience stores across the street. It’s nice to have a hotel in such a bustling area with such a well designed swimming pool.

Enjoy a fragrant and spacious room

As you enter your room, you will first smell a sweet fragrance. You might have no idea where it comes from until you see the mattress with small red flowers on it. This is the Balinese way of welcoming its guests! Standard rooms are quite spacious, and have a strong Wi-Fi connection along with a writing desk and a cable TV; costing you about 60 USD per night. Nevertheless, if you want a neater room with a couch, a big LCD TV, and an extra table lamp with more amenities, book a mini suite for extra 10 USD.

You may consider a superior room (95 USD, with 2 king-sized beds and a separate living room) if you bring kids or extended family with you. One thing to note is across from the hotel, there is a bar (Legian Pub) with loud music, playing every evening till midnight. Like most other tourists in Kuta, you may be spending your time out somewhere between those hours, and by the time you get back to your hotel, the music will have stopped.

However, you can request from the receptionist if you prefer to stay in a quiet room. It’s usually the rooms with windows facing the street that will be noisier.

Dine at Drops Resto & Lounge

This hotel has a restaurant named Drops Resto & Lounge, which also serves customers who are not the hotel’s guests. I call this place a Balinese restaurant as they serve foods in an authentic Balinese way; where white rice is shaped like a cone, and foods are served on bamboo plates and a banana leaf. Don’t miss the chicken satay (barbecued skewered chicken), which is fatter and shorter than what you can find in Java. A recommended menu, you ask? Order nasi campur (mixed rice), and have several different dishes like white rice, fried noodles, satay, krupuk (prawn crackers), and Balinese chili (chili sauce and pickled carrots and cucumber) served together on a plate. The breakfast is complimentary for all hotel guests!
