Affordable Luxury Revealed: Sumber Hotel In Batu From 24 USD

Like a nuclear bomb, tourism in the hill city of Batu in Indonesia over the past 15 years has exploded. Since 2000, there has been a new attraction built every four or five years in the city and the number of visitors has increased tenfold. Among the attractions, the most popular are East Java Park 1 (featuring Indonesian customs and traditions), East Java Park 2 (featuring a modern zoo), Batu Night Spectacular (featuring night attractions), Transport Museum (featuring the world’s transport history) and Selecta (featuring its flower garden). As a result, hotels flourish like mushrooms, including budget hotels like Sumber hotel (In English, it means ‘Spring’ hotel) that is located in Jalan Darsono Barat 14, Batu, East Java, Indonesia.

Affordable Sumber Hotel

There are certainly hotels that will charge you up to 100 USD over the weekend for a superior room, but of course, you may choose not to stay there, especially ‘when you want to use your money for something else that is more important than just a hotel stay’ (a classic way to say ‘when you are on a tight budget’, haha!).

A three-star hotel with backpacker price

Deluxe room with a double bed

Depending on the room you plan to stay at the Sumber Hotel, it can cost you as low as 300,000 IDR (23 USD) for a smaller bedroom with a double-sized bed, 400,000 IDR (31 USD) for a king-sized bed and 550,000 IDR (50 USD) for a larger room with a couple of king-sized bed per night (same price on weekdays and weekends). Hang on, are we talking about a backpacker hotel?

Well, it does not really matter how you call it, but there are hotels in Batu that cost less than 23 USD and the ones that we recommend definitely come with decent facilities. Hmmm, you can call it a three-star hotel with backpacker price. How does it sound?

Everything you need in the bedroom

Hygienic bathroom

For approximately 23 USD, you can be assured of a good night sleep on a latex mattress in a well-equipped room. The TV may not be an LED one, but it is connected to a cable TV provider. You can watch international TV channels from all over the world, just like any three-star hotel facility.

Each bedroom has a clean bathroom. The bathroom is facilitated with hot water (you don’t want a cold shower, do you?) and it looks pretty and hygienic with its tiled walls to the ceiling. Other shower needs like towels, a bar of mini soap, a bottle of mini shampoo and a mini tube of toothpaste are also given to its guests.

All bedrooms come with a balcony

Are these small luxuries not enough to surprise you? Well, the hotel’s bedroom also has another surprise for its guests. All bedrooms come with a balcony. From the balcony, you can enjoy a beautiful mountain view. When you look down, you may have a pool and gazebo view. (Wow! The hotel has a swimming pool!)

Close to Batu Night Spectacular

What else is good about this hotel? Besides the decent facilities and affordable price, Sumber Hotel is a great choice if you want to stay close to Batu’s night attraction, Batu Night Spectacular (BNS) Located four kilometers away, you can get to BNS via a 5-minute drive or take a 20-30 minute stroll. Wow! Isn’t it a good way to enjoy a hotel stay while staying economical?

Get going!

What can be better than relaxing and enjoying the scenery with cool air on a night in Batu? You can take in all of those city lights while sipping a cup of hot beverage.
