If you enjoy staying in an idyllic setting far, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you are sure to love a break in a cosy Eco Retreats tipi. Nestled in the heart of gorgeous scenery and with just the fluffy sheep for neighbours, relax in nature and experience the novelty of tipi life. Rustic, yet with enough comfort to make you feel right at home, you may be surprised at just how contented you feel living under canvas.

Here’s what you can expect from your tipi adventure:

A beautiful canvas tipi in a picturesque and peaceful setting

The spacious tipis are well-spread out throughout the fields, meaning that your chances of seeing another soul are slim. Sheep roam across the landscape of patchwork green and a small river babbles and burbles. Inhale the deliciously fresh air and soak up the views before retreating into your unconventional home for the night.

Located in a gorgeous valley within the large and pretty Dyfi Forest, it has never been easier to enjoy the stunning Welsh countryside.

With a diameter of 6.4 metres, the tipis are big enough to be really comfortable, yet small enough to feel intimate and cosy. An inner awning makes sure that you stay dry whatever the weather outside. The wooden bathroom is next to your tipi, just a few steps away from your front “door”.

The multi-purpose wooden hut houses a composting toilet, compete with sawdust to throw down the hole after each use. The refreshing shower uses water from a nearby spring, stored in a solar bag and heated naturally by the sun. This does mean that in the cooler months, your shower might not be as warm as you would like!

There is an outside shelf with a cut out hole for a bowl - used for both personal washing and washing dishes (two separate bowls are provided for each purpose.) There is a shaving mirror and plenty of space to pop your toothbrush and other toiletries whilst enjoying the feeling of getting ready to start your day outside with the birds singing all around.

Comfortable furnishings for a pleasant stay

The soft double mattress sits on a raised platform, with fluffy blankets and a wood-burning chiminea for plenty of warmth. Don’t worry about being smoked out – the adjustable tipi flaps mean that any smoke is channelled out whilst still keeping the interior warm and dry. If you still feel chilly, why not fill up a hot water bottle (provided) and snuggle down in bed?

There is a cute low wooden table on a raised area of decking, complete with plump scatter cushions for a lovely indoor seating area. Lanterns and tea light candles provide soft lighting after dark, as well as creating a romantic atmosphere.

A small gas powered stove makes preparing your own meals and hot drinks easy, and you’ll find basic crockery and cutlery within the carved wooden cupboard. Dishwashing liquid, a twig broom, and other cleaning essentials make keeping your tipi clean and tidy both easy and rather enjoyable, and the inner ropes are perfect for hanging your clothes. There is also a water filter, providing lots of fresh drinking water.

As far as possible, everything within your tipi is organic, recycled, locally sourced, or fair-trade.

The tipis do not have electricity, nor do they have Wi-Fi. This is the ideal chance to disconnect and soothe your mind, body, and soul in a restful setting, away from the pressure and demands of everyday life. Leave it all far behind and enjoy the simple life nestled in nature.

Spend your nights under the sparkling stars

The countryside setting makes star-gazing a pleasure, with little light pollution to spoil your views of the twinkling skies. Wrap up warm, get your camp fire roaring in the outdoor fire pit, pull up a log seat, and feel warm and toasty as you reconnect with simple outdoor pleasures. Enjoy the sounds of the wild, share tales with your companion, and maybe toast a few marshmallows! It’s a beautiful place to sit and simply … be.

Have fun chopping the wood for your outdoor fire and chiminea – you’ll find a large pile of logs within the small wooden storage area next to your tipi, as well as a couple of sharp axes. Matches and fire-lighters are also provided.

Take long walks through the fields and enjoy the sweeping views.

It is possible to arrange for a private Reiki session within the comfort of your own tipi (extra charges apply). Reiki is a gentle holistic therapy whereby the practitioner uses their hand to channel healing energy into the recipient. You could also join guided meditation sessions with experienced leaders or try kinesiology, a non-invasive holistic approach that seeks to promote overall health, well-being, and energy levels.

Things to do in the surrounding areas

As well as enjoying nature, the nearby surroundings are home to an assortment of attractions and activities. Discover remains of historic castles, admire pretty waterfalls, stroll along beautiful beaches, and climb the mighty Cadair Idris Mountain. Ride a boat through the mystical King Arthur’s Labyrinth and discover fascinating Welsh legends and myths as you journey through the impressive caverns. Machynlleth’s Tabernacle Museum of Modern Art is a great place for art lovers, and the local shops have a variety of delights for sale.

Wildlife spotting, hiking, canyoning, climbing, mountain biking, kite surfing, horse riding, and mountaineering are just a few of the terrific activities that can make your days even more fun and exciting.

Eco Retreats also have a selection of well-appointed yurts set in spectacular surroundings.

If you love the great outdoors, try something a bit different and arrange your stay in a stunning tipi with Eco Retreats.
