1. Grand Hyatt Athens (from USD 425)
Slightly pricey, with a €100 per day security deposit.
Excellent pool, sauna, and rooftop swimming pool with stunning views of the Acropolis. Good business center and spa facilities. Free shuttle bus to the main area for shopping.
Great location with a direct view of the Parthenon, though a bit far from the city center. Easy access to nearby attractions and a central area for shopping.
Varied and high-quality breakfast with proactive and friendly staff. However, the food is a bit pricey for Athens, and the breakfast buffet could use more variety and rotation of dishes.
Stay in style at this grand hotel, only 2 km (1.24 mi) from the world-famous Acropolis. Enjoy refreshing dips in the rooftop pool while admiring a stunning view of the Acropolis. A hot tub and a heated indoor pool are also available for relaxation. You can get an invigorating massage in the on-site spa.
Savour Asian and Mediterranean cuisine at the two on-site restaurants and enjoy refreshing cocktails at the chic poolside bar. You don’t have to worry about calories when there’s a fitness centre at your disposal.
Every suite and room is air-conditioned and elegantly furnished with contemporary art pieces. You’ll have a flat-screen TV for entertainment while the fully stocked mini-bar in your room will keep you recharged. For a more special experience, choose a room that offers views of the Acropolis.
Tip from Content Creator
During your stay at this property, make some time to explore the Acropolis. If you plan to visit it, keep these seven things in mind:
- Opening hours: 8 am - 5 pm in winter; 8 am - 8 pm in summer
- Tickets cost 20 EUR (21.55 USD) from April 1st to October 31st and 10 EUR (10.77 USD) from November 1st to March 31st, and can be purchased at ticket offices or online at odysseus.culture.gr.
- The combined ticket costs 30 EUR (32.32 USD) and it's valid for five days for Acropolis, Ancient Agora Museum and Areios Pagos, Archeological Museum of Kerameikos, Hadrian's Library, Kerameikos, Lykeion Archeological Site, North and South Slopes of the Acropolis, Olympieio, and Roman Agora.
- Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended to avoid long queues.
- If you are visiting Athens in winter like me, consider that the combined ticket may not be the most convenient option for you, as every ticket costs half the usual price. So, if you don't want to visit every attraction, go for single tickets.
- The Acropolis has two entrances: the eastern one is close to Akropoli metro station (Line 2) but it's further from the Parthenon, while the main one is closer to the latter but not served by a metro station. - If you want to avoid crowds and enjoy the Acropolis to the fullest, wake up early and enter the site at 8 am from the main entrance. Visit the Parthenon first and the other monuments after that.
