Cebu City, also known as the Queen City of the South, is the largest city in a province with the same name. It is where history and culture meet in a backdrop of Spanish-era landmarks and modern buildings. Its historic sites include Magellan’s Cross and Fort San Pedro. It is also the perfect jump-off point to the numerous surrounding islands, where one can indulge in an itinerary of diving, swimming, kayaking, and sightseeing. These include the infamous Malapascua, Moalboal, and Mactan Islands. Foodies need not worry either, as this city offers sumptuous Filipino dishes, such as lechon and pochero.

Since Cebu City is full of places for outdoor recreational activities, the best time to visit is between December and May, when the climate is drier.

After a jam-packed itinerary, you’re sure to want to relax in comfortable accommodations. Check out these hotels in Cebu City, Philippines.

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. The image galleries get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on April 12, 2024.

1. Marco Polo Plaza Cebu (from USD 67)

Marco Polo Plaza Cebu is near popular tourist attractions such as Fort San Pedro and Magellan’s Cross. Inside, each room is comfortable and luxurious with 32-inch (81.28-centimeter) flat-screen TVs, modern décor, and large windows. If you want a room with a view, you can choose between the scenery of the mountains, the calming vista of the seas, or a stunning view of the city.

For businessmen who want a place to relax while attending meetings in the city, the business center is fully equipped with photocopying services. The hotel also has meeting and conference rooms that can be reserved for business negotiations and deals for an additional charge.

Marco Polo Hotel is just one of several landmarks that make up Cebu City's marvelous mountainside district. While the flat and coastal areas offer enough variety for you to try, the hillside is equally good with as many restaurants, attractions, and even accommodations that are worth your investment.

In those hills, there is one place that has, since my visit, slowly become one of my all-time favorites. Vue by Delice provides meals that both fill you up easily and don't break the bank (yes, I'm saying this from experience!). In addition to the money-saving entrees, the staggering views of Metro Cebu help make the dining experience better by a mile.

Vue opens everyday at 11am for brunch orders. However, I highly recommend heading there at night, when bright city lights illuminate the skyline.

Another hillside dining spot that you can add to your itinerary is La Vie in the Sky, recently re-branded as La Parisienne SKY. It's one of several restaurants of its kind splayed throughout Metro Cebu, joining other branches such as La Parisienne Mactan and the original La Parisienne in Lahug. It's well-known for its tasteful selection of wines, top-notch meats and cheeses, refined French pastries, and, especially for younger guests, a colorful display of gelato flavors.

While taking a bite, you'll be instantly captivated by La Parisienne SKY's gorgeous interiors. They're so alluring, even I couldn't help but go around the place to take tons of pictures!

Magellan’s Cross in Cebu City was planted in 1521, this cross is the most iconic symbol of Spain’s colonization of the Philippines. The explorers planted the cross upon their arrival in Cebu, and since then it has become a representation of their Catholic influence on the country. While there are many bad sides to colonization, Catholicism is not one of them. In fact, even long after the Philippines’ release from the cruel grasp of Spain, it has retained and maintained the faith.

Apart from the actual cross, many travelers come here to admire the mural on the ceiling. It tells the story of Rajah Humabon’s (and his family’s) baptism into Catholicism and Magellan’s planting of the cross.
