Tip from Trip101 local expert
While I prefer spending my nights quietly at home, it also feels good to let loose now and then. The breadth of both Tomas Morato Avenue and Timog Avenue are filled with clubs, cafes, and restaurants. Mesa is a restaurant that's only three minutes away by car from the hotel. They take familiar Filipino home favorites and give them modern culinary twists. I highly recommend their tinapa rolls and fried catfish. If instead, you need a place to unwind, Cafe I'm Here is a wholesome place for kids and grownups. It's situated along the Timog roundabout and just a couple of minutes away on foot. It was comfy enough that I was able to take a short nap even with my relatives' kids playing with the children of other guests. I also saw students studying and relaxing in their own private tents and tables.

Tip from Trip101 local expert
Hunger hitting you hard and need a good dive with Filipino comfort food? I suggest you look for Cocoy Mami Pares along Visayas Avenue, heading to Tandang Sora. It's just 10 minutes away from OYO 115, although you'll have to contend with street parking once there. I always order a bowl of their sweet beef pares and pair it with garlic-topped rice. As I don't mind staying forever young, I sometimes also order their lechon kawali to go with the pares. For an appetizer or as a takeaway, I grab two or three of their asado siopao as well. If you'd like to try some pizzas with "non-standard" toppings, Alberto's Pizza is right beside Cocoy. My favorites are their signature specials - the chogburizo pizza as well as the diavolos pizza.
