Hello! My name is Perry, originally from the heart of Belgium, famed for its waffles and fries. However, it wasn't just the call of the Spanish sun that brought to Barcelona, but rather a captivating encounter with a German-Uruguayan beauty in Thailand. This led to the birth of our son in Ibiza, and eventually, more than two decades ago, I found myself in the vibrant city of Barcelona. My passion for meeting people from different nationalities and cultures, coupled with an insatiable appetite for adventure, has empowered me to transform ordinary days into extraordinary stories. In 2020, I embarked on a new journey by starting my own sightseeing company, showcasing the wonders of Barcelona to people from all over the world. With nine years of guiding experience in this magnificent city, I am thrilled to share its beauty and hidden gems with you.

5. Swad - The Indian Restaurant

Swad prides itself on its homemade Indian dishes. And it’s a pride which seems to have paid off - with customers rating it as not just one of Barcelona’s best Indian eateries, but one of the best restaurant experiences in the city full stop. It may not have as extensive a menu as some of the other options on this list but it still covers an array of different meat and vegetarian options - and a smaller menu is often a good sign of an eatery that is focused on quality rather than quantity. Diners certainly agreed - throwing about such superlatives as “sublime” and “exceptional”. They were also big fans of Swad’s under-stated decor and ambience, praising everything from the taste of the water to the quality of the background music. The prices are also very affordable - there’s even fixed price menu options available - making it a good option for those who want to tantalise those taste buds without breaking the bank.

6. Masala73

Built from the ground up around the reputation of its food, this curry bar originally started as a 1973-era food truck (hence the ‘73’ reference in the name) but became such a success that it outgrew its humble beginnings to move into a permanent home and become a full-fledged restaurant in its own right. The chef’s determination to stick to those handmade roots continues today, and the menu varies according to the season - so those who plan on visiting Barcelona more than once will likely find new tastes each time. And the stylish but functional decor features lots of colourful nods to the restaurant’s Indian heritage. Diners loved its mix of quality and affordability. Oh, and as for the food truck, it still operates - catering to special events around the city.
