Café Corazon is a small hearty restaurant. With only 30 seats, it is not difficult to be full of customers and to create a queue of people waiting patiently outside for an opportunity to grab a bar stool and enjoy the restaurant’s plates. The Corazón guacamole, the all-important test of a good Mexican joint, is creamy and fresh. The tortilla-based items taste like they’re out of a street cart in Mexico City. Right next to those classics come the mussels, an unexpected treat.

One of the neighbourhood’s favourite, Cielito Lindo lights the sky of Milwaukee’s Southside. With the restaurant closing up late in the evening (or early in the morning, as you prefer) and with a very speedy service, Cielito Lindo has too many regular customers. The ambience is nice, the colourful walls are combined with a bright blue sky on the ceiling. And then comes the burritos and the nachos and the tortillas, with all the kinds of meat you like and various sauces. And if it goes on until very late, you can just come back bright and early for a balancing brunch.

Chipotle’s founder is a chef with classical training, and this is how you may recognize some touches of haute cuisine in your Mexican treat. And don’t forget, better ingredients make better food!
