The Huashan 1914 Creative Park is situated only minutes away from Zhongxiao Xinsheng metro station (blue or yellow line) in Taipei, Taiwan, allowing for an easy walk. Huashan 1914 Creative Park is not the usual tourist attraction, but it is a place that you should explore. Besides the stalls set up by home-grown designers, there is also a movie theatre showing award-winning premiers. In Taipei, one would never go hungry anywhere. In the park, you will find several restaurants and cafes. One of the most interesting of these is Never Ending Story by the famous Taiwanese illustrator, Jimmy Liao. This article will introduce you to the wonderful experience that you can expect as you step into this interesting cafe!

Be attracted by its chic exterior
Editor's Note: There's no photo available at the time of writing
Never Ending Story is one of the cafes near the entrance to Huashan 1914, so the restaurant’s entrance is bound to attract your attention. There is also a sculpture of an adorable young child created by Jimmy Liao sitting outside the cafe and welcoming you to step in for a second look.

Browse through the products
When you first enter the cafe, more animated figurines will surprise and welcome you at the product displays. During my visit, they were featuring a range of yellow banana products, so there was giant plush banana grinning happily at me! They sell adorable pouches and headphone cases with prints of animated figures, cds, and one the most interesting gifts is the music postcard. Each postcard comes with 3 classical tunes and the recipient can download them easily using the code.
Step into the fairy tale-like land
The sleek cafe is painted white with colorful images on the ceiling. There is also a large projector featuring some animated images that are very pretty and colorful. The staff are extremely friendly and will recommend you try their top dishes when you ask for suggestions!
You must not miss the spaghetti vongole
There are many choices to pick from the menu, but I settled for the simple spaghetti vongole. The staff commented that it can be a little bland, but I was perfectly alright as I did not want something heavy or oily, especially after all the snacks at the night market. When my plate of pasta arrived, I was surprised by its presentation. Each claim was neatly placed around the pasta in a circle, while the pasta was in the center of these shells. Not only was the presentation good, the pasta was al-dente and tasted just right as well. It was not too salty, but it was not bland at all. It was perfectly alright. The clams were the juiciest ones that I’ve had in my life. Each clam is big and juicy, so you could taste it down your throat. Most of the spaghetti vongole that I have tried in other restaurants had really small clams, but this cafe has a generous portion of them. Couple it with a hot latte and your meal is complete!

Snap more pictures around the cafe
Editor's Note: There's no photo available at the time of writing
If you are seated at the first table in the cafe, you will be seated beside the small child figurine. The figurine is reading a book so you can pose with it and snap some really cute pictures. However, there is a sign that says do not touch the figurine, so avoid touching it when snapping pictures. Pictures of the colorful ceiling are also a must. The ceiling is made up of numerous pictures and each of them is pretty and colorful. The cafe welcomes its customers to snap pictures so do take some for memories!
An alternative dining option
If you run out of dining options after trying out all the Taiwanese street snacks, do consider the Never Ending Story cafe in the Huashan 1914 Creative Park. It’s easily accessible by metro and it’s promised to leave you feeling happy as a fairy tale character as you walk out! Fans of Jimmy Liao’s artwork should not miss this cafe. If you cannot get enough of his artwork, take a bus from Taipei to Yilan and visit the Jimmy Liao Park as well!
