Food in Malta is a pretty big deal; the Maltese love their food so much and endeavour to pass on to future generations all the traditional recipes that use local ingredients. Maltese cuisine is described as being quite typical of a central Mediterranean Island, with its full flavoured and colourful variety of dishes. Taking influences from across the Mediterranean and from its proximity to North Africa, there is much to savour here with a glass (or two) of local wine. We’ve selected nine of the best places to eat in Malta, just for you.

Let's go eat!
Despite its small size, Malta is home to numerous restaurants, all of which offer traditional Maltese food and international dishes. Is it your first time in Malta? Then make sure to try the national dish “Stuffat tal-Fenek” (rabbit stew), which is probably the best representation of the rebellious Maltese spirit, as the dish was initially created as a form of symbolic resistance to the hunting restrictions imposed by the Knights of St John.
