Tip from Trip101 local expert
Princep Ghat on the Hooghly River is ideal for a romantic and serene date with your partner. I used to have the best time here with my boyfriend, admiring pink sunsets while soaking in the cool breeze and enjoying tea from a quintessential 'bhnaar' or earthen cup. The place is best enjoyed in winter, and you must try the boat ride to truly immerse yourself in the surroundings. To reach Princep Ghat, you can take a metro and get off at Esplanade, the nearest metro station. From there, take a cab or enjoy a long walk with your partner to the Ghat. The area around the Ghat is known for its historic significance, with a monument that dates back to the 19th century. Nearby attractions that you can also check out include Victoria Memorial and St. Paul's Cathedral. Do note that the area gets a little unsafe after dark, so it's best to be alert of your surroundings.

I have fond memories of the time spent at The Ffort Raichak with my beloved. This heritage abode overlooks the pristine river and you can book a Superior room for your stay. The one we had booked offered a breathtaking view of the Ganges. We stayed here over the weekend and while the place has several restaurants, our go-to place for breakfast and lunch was The Courtyard. After a hearty breakfast, our favorite thing to do was to enjoy a nice stroll on the riverside or go to the spa to destress. If you like Bengali cuisine, I will recommend lunch at Sonar Tori.
