Tip from Trip101 local expert
Gariahat is full of eateries serving a wide range of cuisines. If you are craving street food, you only need to stop at any one of the many 'Phuchka' (Panipuri) stalls in the neighborhood. In case you have a sweet tooth like me, make sure to visit the Kookie Jar branch in Gariahat. For a hearty meal, I vouch for the taste and portions served by Kimli - a Chinese restaurant. The Chimney Soup here, featuring shrimp, crabmeat, lamb, chicken, bok choy, and Mei Fun noodles in a flavorful broth, is a total comfort food.

Tip from Trip101 local expert
This Airbnb truly enjoys a superb location in the heart of the city, Camac Street. My father worked in one of the companies that has its headquarters in Camac Street. I remember this place for all the great restaurants that I have visited with him. A personal favorite is The Fatty Bao. The food here is a real treat for people who love Chinese cuisine. While my father always went for their Sichuan King Prawn curry, I could never resist the steamed bhetki here!

Tapan Theatre is just a five-minute walk from this place. The theater hosts live shows by independent groups almost every day of the week, making this an ideal accommodation for those who want to explore the contemporary theater scene in Kolkata. The theater itself is in a rundown state and is in need of an uplift, but that doesn't affect the creativity of the artists. After the show, you can head to Apanjan for a quick snack. My favorite here is the fish 'kochuri' and the mutton 'singara'. Keep in mind that they get sold out quite fast.

This Airbnb abounds with ample opportunities for recreation during your stay in the City of Joy. In the mood for watching movies? I will recommend Cinepolis. Tip from Trip101 local expert
The Park Street area is known for a variety of illustrious eateries. But, if you are interested in quieter, lesser-known, yet equally inviting options, I recommend The Blue Poppy Thakali, located within walking distance from this property. The floor seating and warm lights create a cozy and rustic ambiance that is bound to make you feel at home. I have been going to this place since my college days and it has never disappointed me. They are known for their Nepali thalis - which come in different options of veg, chicken, mutton, egg, and pork. I would also recommend their pork with mustard leaves. Apart from Nepalese food, they also serve Bhutanese and Tibetan dishes.
