The tropical island setting of Nassau makes any romantic adventure a breeze. But if you and your significant other are looking for something other than just the beautiful beaches, Nassau has plenty of other romantic options to offer travellers. From tours, to cultural activities, to dining, this guide will show you a variety of romantic activities that both you and your partner can enjoy.

1. Flying Cloud Catamaran Cruises

Sail around the sights of Nassau and New Providence on a 57-foot (17.3 m) long catamaran with Flying Cloud Catamaran Cruises. This memorable experience will leave any traveller with wonderful memories of a day full of fun. This particular company offers three different types of cruises.

The first option is a half-day of sailing and snorkeling in which guests get to sail out to a secluded beach and are allowed to snorkel at their leisure. This excursion lasts about three and half hours. Snorkeling equipment is provided, as well as drinks. This activity is available Monday afternoons through Saturdays (except Thursdays) and departs at 9:30 am and 2 pm. The cost is 80 USD / 80 BSD per person.

The dinner cruise is the next option; guests will be sailing through Nassau Harbor during the evening with dinner provided, and a fully stocked bar with drinks are available for purchase. This excursion lasts for about two and half hours. This trip runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, departs at 6 pm, and is 70 USD / 70 BSD per person.

The final option is a full day cruise that lasts about five hours. This tour includes lunch, and is similar to the half day cruise with the exception that guests will get to visit the famous Rose Island Beach that has extravagant coral reefs. Guests will be able to snorkel the reefs, play on the beach, or explore the sights of the island. Lunch and drinks are included. This excursion runs on Thursdays and Sundays, leaves port at 10 am, and is 95 USD / 95 BSD per person.

Flying Cloud does book private charters for business parties, or weddings, which guests can plan at the office or by phone. Transportation to the dock from various hotels is included.

All trips leave from Paradise Island Ferry Terminal.

3. International Culture Wine and Food Festival

On behalf of Cash N' Go, we would like to congratulate the Filipino Association of the Bahamas on winning the Best Booth at the recent International Culture, Wine and Food Festival.

Posted by Cash N Go on Monday, 19 October 2015

You’ll have to do a bit of extra planning if you wish to attend this annual event, but it is worth the effort. The International Culture Wine and Food Festival is one of the biggest festivals in the Bahamas. It takes place in the Nassau Botanical Gardens, just outside of downtown Nassau, near the Ardastra Gardens. The festival is a wonderful showcase of physical art, dance, music, and of course, food and wine! The goal of the festival is to let people from around the world join together through the bonds that arts and delicious food creates. The festival typically takes place every October, and in 2017 it will take place on the 14 &15 of October, and admission should not be more than 10 USD / 10 BSD for adults. Enjoy this historical cultural event with your loved one, where you can get some exotic food finds as you stroll through the garden and meet some new friends.

4. Dining at Graycliff Hotel (from USD 371)

Graycliff Hotel has been mentioned in my article “Nestle into Nassau: The Best Places to Stay in Nassau, Bahamas,” but I have to mention it again because of its accommodation specifically for romantic interests. Graycliff offers specialty planning for honeymoons, weddings, vow renewals, proposals, and anniversaries. Guests can make appointments with Graycliff’s Event Coordinator and design their own packages or events how ever they want. Couples that make their honeymoon known to the hotel while booking, and produce a copy of their marriage certificate upon arrival, can enjoy a complimentary bottle of champagne, gift, and if available, an upgraded room.

In addition to events, Graycliff’s restaurants offer plenty in the way of romantic dining. Guests can book private dining in the restaurant’s wine cellar, or Chef’s Table. Wine Luncheons are also a treat at the restaurant, where guests can taste samples from the restaurant’s extensive wine cellar, as well as a five course meal that is paired to compliment the appropriate wines. There is a dress code that is enforced at Graycliff’s restaurant. Lunch is refined casual attire, and dinner is elegant attire. For men, jackets are recommended but not required, and everyone should keep their beach shorts in the hotel room.

5. Versailles Gardens and French Cloister (from USD 600)

As its name suggests, the One and Only Hotel is a location that practically bleeds romance. And on the property of this luxury beachfront resort are the historical Versailles Gardens and French Cloister, an ornate and meticulously kept garden with terraced inclines inspired by the gardens of Versailles, surrounded by the ruins of a French Monastery. This stone construction is one of only four to be removed from the French homeland. The gardens and cloister are a common location for weddings and events held by the One and Only. If my research is correct, I am sad to report that only guests staying at the One and Only can have free roam of these gardens, and other guests can only look from the border of the property. However, it is still a very interesting historical landmark that one does not want to pass up. Its mysterious and almost fairytale appearance is something uncommon in the world, and experiencing it with someone you care about makes it all the more special.

Time well spent

Time to spend with a loved one is a precious thing that not everyone has the liberty of enjoying. Making the most of your time with someone can seem daunting, but in Nassau, it doesn’t have to be. The ease of finding simple ways to make your travels romantic is one of the island’s best features. By choosing Nassau as your next travel spot, you and your significant other can reaffirm your commitment to each other. And when the day comes to an end, you can be sure it was time well spent with the special someone you share your sunset with.
