1. Visit the popular Bennington Battle Monument
Bennington Battle Monument, as the name suggests, is a monument that was built to commemorate the Battle of Bennington, a battle that took place in 1777 during the American Revolutionary War. This monument stands tall at over 306 feet (0.3 metres) is a proud symbol of strength and honour in the town of Bennington. This is one of the tallest structures in Vermont and it is a sight to behold! You can even take an elevator up to the observation floor of this monument or find a tour guide to tell you a little bit about its history.

2. Watch the sunset from atop the White Rocks

White Rocks is a hiking area in Bennington. It has a 4-mile (6.4-km) long trail that offers some gorgeous views of the mountain and a panoramic view of Bennington. The White Rocks are actually the 2400-foot (731-metre) shoulder of Bald Mountain. The trail is fairly easy to follow – after walking for a while, you will enter the Glastenbury Wilderness area which has a small stream flowing by, and after walking up a little more you’ll reach to the top of the White Rocks. It is suggested that you go in the afternoon so you can catch the sunset from the top!

3. Learn about local history at Bennington Museum

Bennington Museum is known for its vast and exceptional collection of art and regional history. Opened originally in 1852, this dynamic museum has a great collection. Fun fact: this museum actually has the largest collection of Grandma Moses paintings in the world! 4. Watch a performance at Oldcastle Theatre Company

Oldcastle Theatre Company, open in 1972, is a popular performing arts theatre in the quaint town of Bennington. With very reasonably priced admission tickets and some great performances put up by the local talent, this theatre is definitely worth the visit. This theatre is so good that plays that have been developed here have been showcased in over 25 states as well as internationally in places like Canada, Spain and South Africa!

5. Visit the expansive Park-McCullough House
Park-McCullough House is a historical museum in the area. It is one of the best-preserved Victorian mansions, which definitely makes it worth the visit! Park-McCullough House is a 35-room mansion that is spread across 200 acres (81 hectares): it is best that you opt for a guided tour. Various musical events and concerts are also organized here: you can check the event schedule on the website. You can even book this spacious mansion for private events like weddings or parties.

7. Drive through Silk Road Covered Bridge
Silk Road Covered Bridge, which was opened in 1840, is a typical New England bridge which is set in the country. Think of it like this, by driving through this you’re driving through a piece of history. The drive is amazing, with a scenic view all around with a one-way road so nothing can block your view! This is one of three bridges in the area, all three of which are almost identical-looking bridges, so make sure to follow the signs and reach the right bridge! And of course, taking pictures of this historical bridge is a must!

8. Attend the Saturday tour of Northshire Brewery
Northshire Brewery specialises in creating handcraft beers! This is a hideaway brewery, so you’re going to have to actually look for it – or you can just put the address on Google maps. Anyway, this brewery also offers tours on Saturday along with beer tasting – so we definitely recommend going for that. This brewery has been creating and crafting original beer since 2010 – so head here to taste some of the best quality beer that you’ll ever have! Also, do read the blog on their website if you’re interested in making your own craft beer at home.

9. Enjoy a nature walk through The Mile-Around Woods

The Mile-Around Woods is a hiking area – actually, it is a private preserve dedicated to the conservation of the local flora, but this preserve is open for hiking and walking tours for the public. You can go there for hiking, walking, enjoying the wildflowers and other flora or even bird watching – the choice is yours. This is also a dog-friendly place, so you can always take your dog for a walk here – be sure to pick up after your dog though! A beautiful place indeed, in summer and winter alike, you should go here to surround yourself with nature.

Downtown Bennington Historic District is the commercial hub and heart of historic Bennington. Fiddlehead at Four Corners is a fine art and contemporary art gallery in the heart of the city. Located in an old marble bank, this art gallery has taken the initiative to ‘graffiti’ the vault. This art gallery also kept the interior decor of the bank – from the original marble bank counter to the brass chandeliers, you’ll see it all. Here, contemporary and craft art like blown glass, pottery art, oil paintings, wood and metal art, film photography are all showcased spectacularly.
