1. Visit the popular Bennington Battle Monument


Bennington Battle Monument, as the name suggests, is a monument that was built to commemorate the Battle of Bennington, a battle that took place in 1777 during the American Revolutionary War. This monument stands tall at over 306 feet (0.3 metres) is a proud symbol of strength and honour in the town of Bennington. This is one of the tallest structures in Vermont and it is a sight to behold! You can even take an elevator up to the observation floor of this monument or find a tour guide to tell you a little bit about its history.

2. Watch the sunset from atop the White Rocks

White Rocks is a hiking area in Bennington. It has a 4-mile (6.4-km) long trail that offers some gorgeous views of the mountain and a panoramic view of Bennington. The White Rocks are actually the 2400-foot (731-metre) shoulder of Bald Mountain. The trail is fairly easy to follow – after walking for a while, you will enter the Glastenbury Wilderness area which has a small stream flowing by, and after walking up a little more you’ll reach to the top of the White Rocks. It is suggested that you go in the afternoon so you can catch the sunset from the top!

Fun fact: this museum actually has the largest collection of Grandma Moses paintings in the world! With very reasonably priced admission tickets and some great performances put up by the local talent, this theatre is definitely worth the visit. Park-McCullough House is a historical museum in the area. It is one of the best-preserved Victorian mansions, which definitely makes it worth the visit! Park-McCullough House is a 35-room mansion that is spread across 200 acres (81 hectares): it is best that you opt for a guided tour. Silk Road Covered Bridge, which was opened in 1840, is a typical New England bridge which is set in the country. Think of it like this, by driving through this you’re driving through a piece of history. The drive is amazing, with a scenic view all around with a one-way road so nothing can block your view! This is one of three bridges in the area, all three of which are almost identical-looking bridges, so make sure to follow the signs and reach the right bridge! And of course, taking pictures of this historical bridge is a must!

Northshire Brewery specialises in creating handcraft beers! This is a hideaway brewery, so you’re going to have to actually look for it – or you can just put the address on Google maps.
