Cheney, Washington is not your usual tourist destination. In fact, this lovely little town is known for being more of a community town because of its family-friendly environment. Cheney takes a lot of pride in being a small town but owes a lot of its progress and diversity as a community to Eastern Washington University, which is pretty much the heart of Cheney. Because of EWU and its students, their population increases a bit from time to time but that shouldn’t mean tourists don’t contribute to that number. Cheney welcomes travelers from far places and accommodates them in hotels and Airbnb vacation rentals. There are several recreational and nature activities fit for everyone to enjoy as well. Read on to check out the things to do in Cheney, Washington.

The variety of wildlife located in this 18,217-acre (7,372-hectare) area is pretty impressive. These range from thousands of bird species, about 45 different species of mammals, several types of reptiles and amphibians, and numerous kinds of fish. Since being established by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1937, the refuge has thrived to become a significant and amazing destination for tourists and locals to appreciate wildlife in their natural habitat.
