Built around 1440, the Tattershall Castle used to be the dwelling place of Ralph Cromwell. He served as the Lord Treasurer of the country. Using over a million pieces of bricks, this five-story castle was established to get the officer’s attention and to reflect his noble social status.

This fascinating biking trail along River Witham links Lincoln to Boston. It is an off-road route, where you can also walk. It is 54 km (33 mi) long and features open landscapes, dotted with fens and wide views. Along the way, enjoy an extensive artwork collection. On the route is a sculpture trail with artworks inspired by the local animal breeds and the poetry of Lord Tennyson. If you find the full distance exhausting, turnaround points exist, from where you can turn back. The Water Rail Way is flat and free of vehicular traffic.

Woolsthorpe Manor comprises of a 17th-century farmhouse and is also Isaac Newton’s birthplace. At the entrance, you will find crossed bones, and Newton’s coat of arms. Inside are geometrical graffiti, hieroglyphics believed to have been inscribed by Newton. Stand in awe of the centuries-old fireplaces that are well-preserved. Go inside Newton’s room and visualize him working on his gravity theories. Feel him looking at the apple tree standing majestically in the orchard. The Manor’s collection showcases the life and times of Isaac Newton.

11. Visit the world's only eight-sailed windmill, Heckington Windmill

With its eight sails, this tower windmill is the only one of its type still standing intact in the UK. The structure comprises six stories. It has a lift that will take you from the ground floor to the top level of the windmill. Steep steps lead you to the upper floors. Visitors with restricted mobility can use the audio-visual display to see the windmill’s interior. The facility accepts both individual and group tours by arrangement.
