11. Learn more about local history at The Oaks Plantation

The Oaks or the Abraham Ricks Plantation is a historic home in Tuscumbia. The home is actually a log cabin that is estimated to be built during the 1700s by the Native Americans. Historians assume that the name “The Oaks Plantation” was derived from the fact that the home is surrounded by oak trees. The home features a Grecian architectural style and it has several hand-carved columns, stairway banisters and window easements. Several antiques are also on exhibit in this home.
