Formerly known as Stalingrad, Volgograd is an industrial city and the administrative center of Volgograd Oblast of Russia. Located in the memorial complex of Mamayev Kurgan, the Square of Grief has the figure of a grieving woman inclined over a dead warrior. Mourn with the grieving mothers who visit here every now and then to pay their respect and remember the contribution of their sons, who were lost in the long Battle of Stalingrad. The statue embodies a woman–mother, wife, daughter, and sister–bowing her head before the dead. Tourists can also spot a mourning shawl on the woman’s head and a banner of the military flag covering the dead warrior.
