Built in 1870, this house had been converted into a corner store until the present architect/owners renovated it as their home. It is located on a historic, tree-lined street, is a newly renovated, designer-rustic two story house. You will be within walking distance to museums, one block to restaurants, cafes & clubs on 14th & U, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and U Street metros. The eclectic living room has a 16 ft (4.8 m) ceiling with tall windows at each end, wood flooring and an exposed brick wall decorated with vintage family portraits and artwork. At the other end of the living room is a library of sorts furnished with an heirloom trestle table and chairs and book shelves lining one wall. The fully equipped kitchen with 10 ft (3 m) walls also has exposed brick walls hung with pots and pans and cooking utensils. Upstairs, the guest bedroom has twin beds, and a reading chair. A small private bathroom is down the hall.

It located in a fantastic neighborhood, close to great restaurants, bars and transportation. The apartment is furnished with an eclectic mix of antique furniture, vintage accessories such as a typewriter, wall mounted phone, Victrola, and 1950’s era TV. Whimsical artwork lines the walls. Some of the original Victorian detailing was retained such as the fireplaces in the living room and bedroom and wood flooring. The kitchen is vintage 1950’s with white cabinets, and Robin’s egg blue refrigerator and stove. You can access a back porch from the kitchen. French doors lead to the bedroom with queen bed and antique chest. Step back in time and enjoy this very different living experience.
