During your stay in the residential district of Busay, make sure to check out Temple of Leah, only 2 km (1.2 mi) away. The temple is a stunning Roman-inspired architectural shrine in Cebu City. It is a mausoleum built by Teodorico Adarna in memory of his beloved wife, Leah Villa Albino-Adarna, which is why it's also known as the Taj Mahal of Cebu.
The temple is a testament to Teodorico's undying love for his wife. It is said that he spent 80 million pesos to build the temple, and he adopted an architectural design that can withstand time and still be appreciated for a millennium. Temple of Leah is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Cebu.
We were greeted by golden lion statues, a grand staircase, and towering pillars. This 7-story mansion has 24 chambers, housing a library, bar, museum, and gallery. Roman gladiators and a bunch of life-sized statues of angels adorn the corners and different parts of the building. We took our time to wander through the temple grounds, admiring the intricate details of the architecture and the lushness of the gardens. We stopped to take photos of the many statues and fountains and marveled at the stunning view of Cebu City from the temple's vantage point. We felt as if we had stepped back in time to ancient Rome. It is a truly unique and special place that you must visit in Cebu!

If you plan on staying in the Santo Niño neighborhood in January, you can witness the Fiesta Señor celebration, which is spearheaded by the Order of the Augustinian Friars at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu.
The essence of the celebration goes way back to the beginning of the country’s Christian faith with the arrival of the image of Santo Niño in 1521. The formal evangelization of the country, however, began in 1565 with the Augustinian friars as the first missionaries of the Christian faith in the Philippines.
2024 marked the 459th Fiesta Señor celebration!
