Stephansdom, Vienna – A Multitude Of Styles In A Single Structure
St. Stephen’s Cathedral, or Stephansdom, is the iconic symbol and dominating landmark of Vienna. Besides its huge proportions, the Stephansdom alongside Hofburg stands out as an edifice that features a mixture of several interesting architectural styles. Located in the centre of Vienna’s Inner Stadt (Inner city), it is practically impossible to be bypassed. And, once you find yourselves in the vicinity of the cathedral, you’ll be drawn to it as inevitably as the sun rises.
Cafes
Showcasing Viennese Coffeehouse Culture At Cafe Mozart
When you think of a café in London, coffee and a sandwich may come to mind. However, not in Vienna. In Vienna, a café is a totally different concept and is more like fine-dining in a high end restaurant anywhere else in the world (and as you will see in this article). One of Vienna's most famous writers wrote in 1918, "If you are worried about something, go to a café! If you hate and detest the people but nevertheless cannot do without them, go to a café! If nobody pays you credit any longer, go to a café!" and quite clearly highlighted that a café was the place to be, in whatever circumstances. Located at Albertinaplatz 2, A-1010 in the first district of Vienna, and directly opposite Albertina near the State Opera and Hofburg Imperial Palace is the wonderful Café Mozart. This is a café that I think you need to visit and I am pleased to have the opportunity to tell you a little about this magnificent, glorious and magical place that was opened in 1929.

A Viennese Hipsters Hangout: Café Kafka
Part of the reason as to why I was so excited to visit Vienna was to embrace and enjoy the coffee house culture and I am so glad that I have been able to share with you an overview to so many Viennese coffee houses. I have given you insight so far into the grand and marvellous Café Sacher, Café Landtmann, Café Mozart, Café Museum and Café Central; however, it is now time for me to share a different type of Viennese coffee house and that is of Café Kafka. Café Kafka is located at Capistrangasse 8, 1060 and is on a side street to Mariahilferstrasse (a street which as a tourist you must visit). Unlike the opulent and magnificent coffee houses that I have mentioned above, Café Kafka is a very small, individual and original establishment and is one that I would recommend that you check-out. It is open from Monday – Saturday from 8 am – 4.00 pm and on Sundays and holidays it is open from 10.00 am – 11.00 pm.

The Beautiful Burggarten In The Inner Stadt Of Vienna
It is not often that you find a capital city in Europe that has a magnitude of wonderful gardens and parks that are freely accessible to the public. Vienna, however, is different as it has so many lush gardens dotted all over the place including the Rathauspark, City Park, Alpine gardens, Kurpark Oberlaa, Pötzleinsdorfer Schlosspark, and etc. Of all the beautiful parks in this city, my favourite has to be the Burggarten and I would definitely recommend that you put it on your list to visit. It is located at Josefsplatz 1, 1010, Vienna and is easily accessible as it is by the Museumsquartier Metro Station. It is such a peaceful oasis that it is hard to believe that it is located in such a central spot in the city as it is positioned directly by the Ringstrasse behind the Hofburg Palace and the Albertina Museum and in close proximity to the Opera House. The Burggarten was laid out in 1818 as a private garden for Emperor Franz I and the Habsburg family and was designed by Ludwig Gabriel von Remy and Franz Antoine and was made public in 1919. Before 1919, the Viennese could only peek into the garden through the monumental gold gate and the beautiful styled fence.
