The Fort: Dine Opposite A UNESCO World Heritage Site In Mombasa
Located directly opposite the Fort Jesus UNESCO World Heritage Site is The Fort Seafood Restaurant and Pizzeria on Nkrumah Road, Mombasa 80100, Kenya. It is a newly opened eatery that was established in October 2016 by two co-owners, one an Italian and the other a Kenyan, who wanted to offer an Italian restaurant with some Swahili influence for locals and tourists to enjoy when they are visiting Fort Jesus and are in the Old Town of Mombasa. Open everyday (except Mondays) from 8.00 am – 11.00 pm, The Fort brings you the freshest and highest quality ingredients with some magnificent views of the Old Town and Fort Jesus.

The Moorings: A Splendid Floating Restaurant In Mombasa Since 1994
What is there not to love about a floating restaurant that sways a little as you sit back, relax and sip on a drink and have a bite to eat? The Moorings Restaurant is East Africa’s oldest floating restaurant and was built in 1994 on a dynamic platform that has been floating on the scenic banks of the Mtwapa Creek on the North Coast of Mombasa, Kenya for over 20 years. It is located at Kwa Chief, next to Motor Garage, off Malindi Road. This is approximately 1 ½ hours away from the Mombasa Airport and 1 hour away from the centre of Mombasa. It is a little bit out of the way and in quite a secluded location, so I’m excited to share some information on it with you so that you can decide whether it’s worth a visit during your time in Mombasa.

Learn About The Incredible Local Labourers In Mombasa, Kenya
It is through travel and time that we grow and change. I have shared with you an insight into the beautiful hotels, resorts, lodges, restaurants, beaches and activities on offer in Mombasa, Kenya. However, it is now time that I share the most important sight of Mombasa that you should see and that is of its people. For most of my childhood and early adult years, I have visited Kenya and I am ashamed to admit it but more often than not, all I could see was that I was surrounded by poverty and pollution. However, a few years ago, I decided to take my camera out and take photographs of the people and see whether by looking through a lens if I could I see things any differently, and I did. It is for this reason that I am compelled to write this article on the people of Mombasa as I would like to share with you the most important part of Mombasa — its local people.
Eat Like A True Local: Swahili Snacks That You Can Enjoy In Kenya
When you think of Kenya, what first comes to mind? Safari, beaches and superb athletes? Well, yes, it definitely has all of that but it also has something a little extra that I have to share with you and that's its snacks! It has some amazingly flavoursome sweet and savoury snacks that are inspired from Arabic, Indian and European cultures due to its history and people. The Arabic and Indian communities brought spices in full blast whilst the Europeans forged forward with sweetness in their dishes and all of these flavours combined created what is today known as Swahili cuisine. In this informative review I am going to share some of the most popular Swahili snacks with you and I have no doubt that you will be feeling peckish, at the very least, by the end of it!
UNESCO World Heritage Site: Portuguese Fort Jesus In Mombasa, Kenya
Whilst being a little island, Mombasa is full of an abundance of unique sights including a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as Fort Jesus. Fort Jesus is located at Nkrumah Road, Mombasa 80100, and is approximately 490 kilometres (304.5 miles) from the capital, Nairobi. It is positioned to guard and protect the Old Port of Mombasa from invasion and it was built and occupied first by the Portuguese. However, as Mombasa changed hands many times throughout its history, Fort Jesus was also under Arab, African and British control. It has been said that no other fort in Africa experienced as much turbulence as Fort Jesus due to its strategic location.

Africa is home to some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world and I am pleased to be able to share with you one beach that has a place in the centre of my heart (and I have a feeling will find a place in yours too). That beach is Bamburi Beach on the little Kenyan island of Mombasa. I must tell you that it is no ordinary beach and I would be surprised if some of the photographs in this article don't tempt you into booking yourself on a flight immediately! The reason that Bamburi Beach is so magical is because there is so much that you can do on it, whatever the time of day, and I am going to provide insight in this article.
