15 Best Things To Do In Pathum Thani, Thailand
The capital city of Changwat province, Pathum Thani is the place which bears the history of the famous Kingdom of Ayutthaya. During the time of the Burmese war, a tribe named Mon had arrived from Myanmar. On their request, King Narai the Great gave shelter to this tribe and arranged their stay in the Sam Khok village. During the rule of King Taksin and King Rama II, the Mon tribe received the protection of the kings. King Rama II himself visited the Sam Khok town, which had overwhelmed the tribe. Much to the king’s pleasure, the Mon tribe offered him lotus flowers while visiting his palace. Thus, King Rama II gave the Sam Khok town the name Prathum Thani or The Town of Lotus. Gradually, the town became known as Pathum Thani. Today, this city is part of the greater Bangkok area. Located on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, it offers endless treats to its visitors. Back To The Farm: The Chang Hua Man Royal Project In Hua Hin, Thailand
Have you ever heard of Thailand’s Royal Projects? Before I travelled to Thailand last week with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, I’d never heard the term before. I’m willing to bet that you haven’t either! The Royal Projects are initiatives developed by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Over the duration of his reign, the King was involved in creating over 2,159 such projects, all aimed at improving the living conditions of the Thai people. The projects can be found throughout Thailand, and commonly tackle eight areas: Agriculture, Environment, Public Health, Occupational Promotion, Water Resources, Communications, Public Welfare and Others. The Chang Hua Man Royal Project, established in 2009, is one of the newest. Its aim is to demonstrate that economically viable crops can be grown without chemical fertilisers. It functions as a learning centre for local Thai farmers to learn about organic farming, dairy farming and harnessing wind energy. However, with rolling green rice fields, a scenic lake and an organic supermarket, the Chang Hua Man Royal Project has become an attraction in its own right. The Royal Projects aren’t widely known outside of Thailand, but that will make this visit off the beaten tourist track all the more rewarding!

5 Things To Do In Samut Songkhram, Thailand
Thai names can sometimes be confusing. Take Samut Songkhram for instance. Google the name, and chances are, you won’t find many things to do in this central province of Thailand. However, Google Mae Klong and you’ll see tons of activities, places of interest, and historical information. Samut Songkham and Mae Klong mean the same province. In Thailand, locals know the place by Mae Klong more, which is its old name. “Samut” means ocean and “songkhram” means war. Literally, the province’s new name means war ocean. Mae Klong, on the other hand, derives its origin from the river with the same name. “Khlong” refers to the canals the river is spread through. The province is known to be the birthplace of Queen Amarindra, wife of King Rama I. It is also known to be a leader in coconut and salt production. It is surrounded by the provinces of Phetchaburi, Ratchaburi, and Samut Sakhon. While most Thais are getting used to calling it by its new name, there are still traditional citizens who may be more familiar with its old one. So if you’re asking for directions, make sure you mention both names. Check out some of the areas you’ll want to visit in Samut Songkhram:
