James Blackwell Farmhouse - I highly recommend a visit to this colonial-era farmhouse, built by the Blackwell family in 1796. The wooden house was acquired by the New York City municipal government in 1823.
It once served as the residence for warden administrators overseeing medical and penal institutions on the island. Despite falling into disrepair, the farmhouse has undergone significant restoration efforts since 1973, with the latest interior renovation being completed in October 2020.
