This place serves some of the best and most authentic biryani, which is made fresh every single day. So you know the food here is going to be packed with flavour and always fresh! This restaurant has a lot of dishes on the menu, from curries to kebabs, from pre-packed tiffins to biryani. But the most recommended biryani dishes here are the Ulavacharu Chicken Dum Biryani and the Avakai Goat Dum Biryani – both of which are gluten free by the way.

This is a specialised Hyderabadi Indian chain, which means the Hyderabadi biryani here is finger licking and delicious. Biryanis in India are made differently depending on the region, and Hyderabadi is definitely one of the best biryanis in the world. If you like mutton, then you’re going to fall in love with the mutton biryani served here! It’s served with a side gravy called salan, and that is outstanding. With many chains across the US, this place serves some really delicious and authentic food. Definitely the best Hyderabadi best biryani in Houston!

This is the place to go for Indian and Pakistani style authentic cooking - everything here is served fresh, hot and delicious. The overall vibe of the place is comfortable and casual and its a great family restaurant. The service is good and the food is reasonably priced, which makes it all the better. The goat biryani here is the best thing on the menu, followed by the local favourite Haleemv – both of which you have to try. Also, the kheer here is really good so try that for dessert. Actually, anything that you order here is going to be really tasty, so order to your heart’s content!

There are plenty of options in the lunch buffet – vegetarian, chicken, meat and seafood. If you decide to order al la carte, make sure to try the chicken, meat or shrimp biryani. This is a rather upscale eatery which serves Indian fusion food – basically a base of Indian food with a little fusion from other cultures and cuisines. This restaurant has a great taster menu, so if you’re in the mood to try a lot of interesting food in small quantities, then this is the place to eat. You must try the chicken tikka masala and the buna ghost, as well as the delicious biryani. This place has the widest variety and best biryani in Houston. And, the cocktails here are good too. Ps, I’d recommend making reservations.

This casual restaurant might look like its nothing fancy, but the food here is better than you can even imagine. This restaurant specialises in homey and traditional Indian food like biryanis, kebabs, curries and some other Indian favourites. The Chicken 65 and the butter chicken here is highly recommended – like pretty much the best Indian chicken dishes in Houston. This place serves some really authentic and tasty Hyderabadi food, so of course, the chicken and goat Hyderabadi biryani are the best you’ll ever have. Opt for their thalis – that way you’ll get to taste a little bit of everything.

So, this place works on a BYOB format which means you can bring your own booze to go along with their delicious food. This restaurant serves authentic Indian and Pakistani food, which means the best of both worlds! The mutton biryani here is undoubtedly the best, followed by the goat masala curry. If you’d prefer a chicken dish, opt for the green Hyderabadi kebabs – they melt in your mouth! This place also has the best curry lentils in town, so its a great place for vegetarians and vegans too!

The decor of this restaurant is very modern and sleek, so you’ll actually enjoy going out for a meal here. The food here is traditionally Indian, very tasty and totally authentic. One of the best things here is the garlic naan, so make sure to order that with whatever curries or kebabs you want to eat. The chicken biryani is without a doubt the best biryani in Houston, because it is so tender and so flavourful! The food might be a tad spicy, so let your server know your spice tolerance beforehand.

This halal restaurant serves some really interesting and delicious food. Also, if you’re looking for a restaurant which can cater Indian food in Houston, then this is the one that you should choose. One of the most interesting things on their menu is the bullet naan – butter naan with cilantro and jalapenos! This place also serves some really tasty kathi rolls and kebab stuffed wraps. The goat and chicken biryani here is the traditional Pakistani biryani, so it is definitely worth the try.

10. Indika
Editor’s note: establishment is permanently closed
One of the fanciest Indian restaurants in Houston, this new age restaurant is modern and chic. With high ceilings, an open and airy vibe and minimalistic decor, this place is very inviting. This restaurant serves some really interesting fusion Indian food like saffron scallops and akuri with green onion masala. The biryani here is also really good, but it is more traditional than fusion food. And, the pancakes served at this restaurant are delicious, so don’t forget to save a place for dessert!
