Iowa City is one of my favorite small towns and part of any great visit is having a great place to stay. Here is a guide to my picks of hotels and home rentals to use during your stay in Iowa City, Iowa.
Hotels
1. The Sheraton (from USD 99)
The Sheraton, in downtown Iowa City, at the University of Iowa campus, has valet and self-parking, an indoor heated pool, a fitness center and a club lounge that offers breakfast and evening snacks. The front desk is open 24 hours a day. It is five minutes from Carver-Hawkeye Arena, plus the Englert Theater and the Museum of Natural History are only a ten-minute walk away. The hotel has an on-site restaurant, Wine Lounge and Small Plate Bistro, that offers guests wine and American cuisine. There are traditional rooms, Deluxe King, Club Level and Club Suite Rooms.

This modern, upscale hotel provides guests with warmth and luxury to help them enjoy their stay in the city. 3. The Hampton Inn (from USD 137)
The Hampton Inn is within a mile of Kinnick Stadium and the Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and the local mall is only a ten-minute drive. It is across the river from the University of Iowa. The hotel features an indoor pool, whirlpool, business and fitness centers, coin laundry, dry cleaning and snack shop. The rooms are available in queen, king and king with a sofa bed. Every room comes with comfortable bedding, free high-speed internet, LCD flat screen TV with movie channels, microwave and mini fridge. Several restaurants are near the hotel.

4. The Clarion Hotel (from USD 109)
The Clarion Hotel and Conference Center is near the University of Iowa and nearby hospital. There is an indoor heated pool, free weekday papers, cleaning service, hot tub and it’s a pet-friendly hotel. The rooms include a coffee maker, ironing board, access to pay-per-view movies and free high-speed internet. The hotel has several meeting rooms and a business center are available. The queen rooms have the choice between a balcony or poolside room.

5. Modern home
This modern home, set on a bluff, overlooking Iowa City Park and the Iowa River, is decorated with mid-century modern decor. The big, expansive windows in the living room, give panoramic views of the outdoors and there is a view of the bluffs from the kitchen. It is private with only three neighbors and is a mile from downtown. It has four bedrooms and bathrooms and has a washer, dryer, keyless entry, wireless internet, charcoal grill, free parking, air conditioning and allows pets.
The master bedroom comes with a fireplace, as does the living room. There is a bar, two living rooms, a large dining room, small patio and well-stocked kitchen with two stoves and an extra beverage fridge. The master bathroom also has a whirlpool tub. There is even a record player with a vinyl record collection, for guests to use.

6. Campus apartment (50 USD)
This inexpensive apartment is near the university football and basketball stadiums, as well as nearby parks and is only a mile from downtown. The apartment is great for small families, couples or solo travelers. It has wood flooring throughout the main part of the home, with a washer/dryer, air-conditioning, candle-lit fireplace and a great view. The apartment has a bedroom and bathroom with a lived-in look.

7. Classy house (220 USD)
This classy apartment is within walking distance from the Carver-Hawkeye Arena and Kinnick Stadium and downtown Iowa City is just across the river. It has one bedroom and bathroom and many features, such as an indoor fireplace, washer/dryer, elevator and an underground parking spot, available to guests, during their stay. There is public transportation nearby.
