1. Sweedeedee
Salted honey pie

Sweedeedee is a great local spot for a sweet morning snack, salad, or sandwich. It has a cozy, bright atmosphere with a rustic look inside. For those who want to linger, this may not be your place as it is small and does tend to gather a wait. However, if you come early enough you can lounge around with no wait and enjoy your breakfast at a leisurely pace. They offer a variety of baked goods, from pies to scones to pieces of bread and quiche. Their delicious menu items start at only 3 USD. For that price, you can afford to try everything they have! You can also try their soup of the day, and as they change their menu up often, you will never get bored coming here again and again — there are always new options to choose from! The coolest thing about this place though is their record player that controls the store’s music. It is on display, and you can sit near it and even request some music!

Made famous from being featured on Man Versus Food, this is already a place many are dying to try! Lined with counter seats, a diner-like atmosphere, and friendly staff, this local favorite gets the best breakfast award! The mancakes are a house favorite here; they are basically huge pancakes and start as low as 3.50 USD. Why not stop by and try them out? If pancakes aren’t your thing, they also have delicious breakfast sandwiches, French toast, waffles, hashes, omelettes, and even fruit options. Something for anyone and everyone at this local spot.

3. Voodoo Doughnut
Anyone who has ever loved donuts and knows anything about Portland has surely heard of this place. It is extremely popular with the local crowd (as well as tourists), and is constantly packed with lines sometimes even from open to close.
They serve different varieties of delicious donuts. From their famous maple bacon donut to a typical glazed donut to creme filled donuts, you can find almost any kind of doughnut here and special order from them as well! You can try to find a bar stool, but you are probably better off taking your sweet treat to go! Luckily, now they have opened multiple locations in different cities so you can get your fix more easily.

Locals love it for the fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere; tourists love it for the ease of finding their locations, delicious food, and reasonable prices (starting as low as 8 USD). As with anywhere that serves up awesome food, if you come at busy times, expect to wait a bit. Either way, their biscuit sandwiches cannot be beat. 5. The Waffle Window
Looking for a delicious, quick, and cheap breakfast on the go? Waffle window may be your answer! Finding this one small window provides every type of waffle one could ever ask for! On weekends you can expect a small wait, but don’t be discouraged as the lines move fast here. They offer free parking, multiple locations, and some even have some cute tables for you to sit at and enjoy your waffle! Others have tons of take out options starting from as low as 2.75 USD! How can you go wrong? At Waffle Window you can order whatever type of waffle suits your fancy — sweet, savory, salty, or all three! Their most famous waffle, the Whole Farm Waffle has thick cut pepper bacon, balsamic-red wine braised mushrooms and onions, roasted red pepper, spinach, and tomato marinated in lemon zest-thyme infused extra virgin olive oil! Wow! If that did not tickle your fancy you can always opt for their traditional pearl sugar waffle that comes plain (but you can add toppings on as well!) If you find any of their locations, we suggest you go!

6. Screen Door
Happy weekend! Tomorrow: Running Shamrock Run Portland. Today: Carbo-loading at Screendoor Restaurant.

Probably the most popular choice on our list, Screen Door, has rave reviews from many locals and frequently has lines down the block from its location in Portland. This is mostly thanks to their incredible Southern soul food, which consists of their fried chicken and waffles, pies, French toasts with fresh fruit, eggs Benedict, cinnamon roll, biscuits and gravy, egg dishes, salads, meats, and the list goes on! Besides having an extremely varied menu and generous portions, the staff has been ranked as some of the friendliest service staff in Portland. With dishes starting at 6.95 USD, there is really no reason to keep reading; get there early to avoid or beat the crowd!
