This charming bar and restaurant is tucked in a historical corner house, right at the city center’s Oude Gracht. A perfect location, a cozy ambiance, great food, friendly staff and live music as yummy dessert are all offered here. ’t Oude Pothuys also serves an amazing typical Dutch Cheese Fondue. If you’re into cheese, it is a must-try- so yummy! They also serve a weekly menu, complete with a starter, main and dessert for only 20.90 USD. Enjoy and be sure to stick around for the live music!

2. Manneken Pis

Manneken Pis is the best snack bar of The Netherlands and one of them is found in the center of Utrecht; all the more reason to go check it out while you are here! Manneken Pis makes their homemade Belgian fries served with quality mayonnaise (and/or Ketchup for those who just can’t get into the whole mayonnaise thing) and the Dutch usually combine it with traditional Dutch meat or cheese snacks (Kroket, Frikandel or Kaassoufflee). It is not a fancy dinner venue but it sure is yummy, cheap and typical Dutch!

3. Cafe Restaurant Graaf Floris

Located in the heart of town, in between the Dom and the City Hall, awaits Cafe Restaurant Graaf Floris. This sophisticated dining venue is tucked in a historical building that dates back to 1896, and it has a large terrace, great for enjoying a meal in the open-air during the summertime when there is daylight up to 11.00pm in the evening. The menu is diverse and it includes real, delicious Dutch food such as a beef stew or the Dutch organic beef steak served with a creamy mushroom, black pepper sauce. Save some space to try out their famous Appel Bollen to go with a cup of fair trade coffee as a dessert (or come back the next day if you are too full!).

5. Café Olivier

Café Olivier is a Belgian beer bar and restaurant tucked in an actual 1860s church, keeping most of the original interior as possible. Dinner is delicious and the ambiance is cozy. Try the ‘black gold,’ which are fresh mussels served with Belgian fries and mayonnaise. For the kids, there is a special kid’s menu and for sure they will love the traditional Dutch 'poffertjes’ - a plate of tiny pancakes served with butter and sugar powder. Don’t miss out on the Belgian beers too, if you are a beer drinker. You will love it!

Kafe België is the place to go for a good and affordable meal to go with your delicious Belgian beer (or a glass of wine for those not into beers, of course!). Located by the main canal in the center of Utrecht, this place is easy to find and it surely is one of the nicest old cafés in town! Who says a café cannot be a great place to go for dinner as well? Kafe België is the place to be!
