The weather in Bukit Lawang was very hot and humid. After breakfast, we were eager to head into Gunung Leuser National Park, not before we coated ourselves with mosquito repellent to keep the mosquitos at bay.
We spotted the orangutan, Katherine, a first-time mother with her newborn, who was just a few days old. It took some cajoling before she climbed down from her nest to greet the crowd with her baby. It was such an incredible moment!
The Thomas Leaf monkeys were adorable too! They seemed to be comfortable with humans close by. Some even became little show-offs as if they knew we were capturing them with our cameras. They were so fun to watch!
We saw many other animals such as the pig-tail monkey, the great argus & moon snake. Learned so much about the trees and plants in the jungle.
