1. Dadri

Dadri is situated around 19 km (11.8 miles) from Ghaziabad. It is known for the world’s largest power project and is managed by the National Thermal Power Corporation. The coal fire thermal power plant generates 840 MW of electric power and 830 MW is generated by the gas-fired plant. There are two cement producing industrial level factories located here. The city played an important role in the struggle for freedom in 1857 when King Umrao Singh Bhati fought against the British.

2. Mohan Nagar

Mohan Nagar is an important industrial township which is located on the Grand Trunk Karnal Road, and is 7 km (4.3 mi) away from Ghaziabad. Mohan Nagar is named after N.N. Mohan, as he established it in 1958. It has various factories, breweries, and distilleries. The town has a very famous temple named Mohan Nagar Temple. The temple is one of the most peaceful places in the area. You can also visit malls to enjoy yourself and eat good food.

3. Modi Nagar

Modi Nagar is located on the Delhi-Mussoorie National Highway. Modi Nagar is named after the Businessman, Gujar Mal Modi but it is said that it was founded by Nawab Zafar Ali. He established a sugar factory here in 1933. It has emerged as a commercial and industrial town and has a number of factories which are engaged in producing not just sugar but textiles, vegetable oil, paints, soap, and varnishes. You can also dine on good local food in a number of markets here.

4. Laxmi Narayan Temple

Laxmi Narayan Temple is located in Modi Nagar and is very well maintained. The temple covers a big open space. The temple consists of many gardens and was constructed in red stone and that is why it is called a red building temple. The overall architecture of this temple is beautiful and definitely will give you peace and quiet. 5. Iskcon Temple

Like all other Iskcon temples in India, the Iskcon Temple located in Ghaziabad attracts lots of people to worship Lord Krishna through the year. The Krishna temple is managed by the Iskcon society. The temple is beautifully made and you will find extreme peace here. During the festival of Janmashtami, the entire place lights up with celebrations and festivities. The environment of this temple is clear and clean with something for everyone.

I must say you should not miss the morning and evening Aarti, the time when the place is transformed into a music and dance festival with the tunes of “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”. You can explore and learn the historic epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata through multimedia in the museum located here in the temple. The temple is highly recommended to visit whether you are a Lord Krishna follower or not.

Dasna is located around 10 km (6 mi) from Ghaziabad. The historic site was set up by the Rajput King, Salaris. The local people believe the story, of how the king arrived on the banks of the River Ganges to cure his leprosy and fell in love with the place so deeply that he constructed a fort for himself on the banks. After Salarsi’s rule, the fort and village came under the control of Ahmad Shah Abdali in 1760. You can reach this site via state-run buses.
