The city of La Chaux-de-Fonds was founded in 1656 in the Jura mountains. The evolution of the city over time had a lot to do with the watch making industry. After a big fire in 1794, it was completely destroyed and reconstructed with a design that makes it look like a big factory. Since 2009, it’s been awarded the UNESCO World Heritage status. If you want to spend a few days getting to know La Chaux-de-Fonds and its history, this is what it has to offer.
