The quiet and peaceful silver beach of Mandrem lies between the twin beaches of Ashvem and Arambol. The beauty of Mandrem beach is worth watching during high tide when the sea water rushes into Mandrem creek. The Mandrem creek moves parallel to the waterline. The water is clear and a rocky cliff out into the sea separates it from Arambol beach. Mandrem has a small fishing community and one might see local fishermen shipping their catch from the sea.

Access: Follow the Mapusa Main Road, heading north, cross St. Xavier’s College until you reach a fork in the road, take the left and then keep following this road. At St. Anthony’s church turn right and follow this road for quite a long distance, then take a left at the Agarwada Chopdem Village Panchayat, follow this road until you reach the Mandrem Beach.

2. Shirr Purchevo Ravalnatha Temple

Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the Shirr Purchevo Ravalnatha Temple is located in Mandrem Village. The half-human and half-eagle image of Lord Vishnu dates back to the medieval period.

The temple is beautifully poised with pleasant views in the background. There are many restaurants and hotels in the vicinity. The visit duration is about 30 minutes. Other nearby attractions are Vaayu and Mojiram Beach.

4. The Chapora fort

A popular tourist attraction of North Goa, the Chapora fort is close to Vagator beach. The fort not only boasts its rich legacy, you can also have a beautiful view of the Vagator, Ozran, and Morjim beaches and the Chapora river from its precincts. The fort became popular after its use as a location in the Bollywood movie Dil Chahata Hai. Originally built in 1612, the purpose of the fort was to act as a watchdog during the 17th century. Shivaji’s son, Sambaji, captured the fort twice in 1683 and in 1739. The Portuguese occupied it in 1741 until the independence of Goa. The fort was reconstructed during Portuguese rule.

One can walk over the ramparts of the wide walls and take a round of the fort. The walls are lined with arrow slits, gun ports, and murder holes. It also has underground tunnels to escape during the time of attacks. The church of St. Anthony is no longer visible and only a few signs of the barracks and housing exist. A natural valley and rocky cliffs provide access to the sea.

Access: The fort can be reached by road from Mapusa. To reach here one has to take the road branching to the right just two kilometres (1.2 miles) before Vagator beach. A small road leads to the base of a hill atop where the fort lies. Tourists can also reach the fort by climbing the hill from Vagator beach.

5. Sea Paradise Beach Cottages

Sea Paradise is an all in one facility located in Mandrem and a 10-minute walk from Arambol Beach. The accommodation will provide you with a balcony and a seating area. 6. Kiteguru Kite Surf & SUP Center

Kiteguru Kite Surf & SUP Center in Goa is open from November till April and offers kite surfing lessons and a Stand Up Paddle boarding dolphin adventure. The center is based on the large uncrowded beach of Mandrem, Goa. The abundant space is ideal for kite surfing lessons - Kiteguru is a truly an all-weather kite school. Robin, the owner of this surf school, a lady called Jill and the other staff are nice guys and great instructors. The center offers 2 classes: Stand Up Paddle boarding for beginners and Yoga on a Stand Up Paddle board. Both are one hour and start on the beach by the Riverside Hotel.

You can have one of the best experiences in Goa surfing and dolphin spotting with SUP boards. All the kites, boards and various gear are always in very good condition and most of the time, new. Don’t miss a great tour on the ocean on a Stand Up Paddle board in Mandrem, Goa looking for dolphins.
