Located in a peaceful part of Koh Phi Phi Don, surrounded by jungle and close to the mountains, Tropical Garden Bungalows is a great choice if you are looking for a quiet base from which to explore Koh Phi Phi. Just a short walk of around ten minutes from the beach and the bustling area of Tonsai, with its many restaurants, shops, and bars, Tropical Garden Bungalows has a selection of basic but clean rooms at reasonable prices. Rustic with a relaxed air, here’s why you should choose Tropical Garden Bungalows for your stay on Koh Phi Phi:

Wide choice of rooms to suit various expectations

Rooms are spacious and clean, most with private bathrooms and a balcony or terrace. Some are cooled by electric fan, whilst others have air-conditioning. Fan rooms are equipped with mosquito nets over the beds.

Rooms come in a variety of styles, with cute wooden chalets on stilts, gorgeous log cabins, and modern concrete buildings. Prices vary depending on time of year, with low season (June to August) being the cheapest time to stay.

Travellers on a tight budget might prefer the fan rooms with shared bathrooms. These cost between 400 THB (approximately 11.20 USD) and 900 THB (approximately 25.30 USD) per night, and can accommodate two people.

En suite rooms with an electric fan cost between 600 THB (approximately 16.80 USD) and 1,100 THB (approximately 30.90 USD) per night. Alternatively, there are en suite bungalows with a fan for between 900 THB (approximately 25.30 USD) and 1,300 THB (approximately 36.50 USD) per night.

If you love the coolness of air-conditioned comfort, there are rooms for 900 – 1,800 THB (approximately 25.30 – 50.50USD) for a night and bungalows from 1,100 THB (approximately 30.90 USD) to 2,100 THB (approximately 59 USD) per night.

For extra flashes of luxury, check-in to a Superior Room. The nightly rate is between 1,500 THB (approximately 42 USD) and 2,300 THB (approximately 64.60 USD).

All rooms can sleep two people. Extra beds can be arranged for 400 THB (approximately 11.20 USD) per night. This increases over the New Year / peak season period (December to February) to 500 THB (approximately 14 USD).

Restful rooms with comfortable beds

Whilst the rooms are basic, the beds are clean and comfortable. Mosquito nets in the fan rooms help you to sleep more soundly, with little fear of being feasted upon as you slumber. Pretty artwork hangs on the walls, making the rooms feel cosier.

Basic room facilities (in the fan room with private bathroom) include a bedside table, a dressing table, a chair, and a large mirror. There is also outdoor seating on the large balcony, perfect for relaxing with a drink and enjoying the peace and quiet of an evening.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the complex, although the signal probably won’t be so good in the buildings farthest away from the reception area and up the hill.

Great views from most of the rooms

Some rooms sit in green and leafy gardens, others are located next to the pool, some are high enough to provide views of the beach, and others look out towards the mountains. Most rooms offer a nice view though! Even the rooms that overlook the rest of the resort have good views, with the tops of the wooden chalets and cabins poking up through the trees and plants.

As you walk through the resort you will wander on stone pathways with trees, bushes, and flowers all around. The bungalows really do create the atmosphere of staying in the heart of a tropical jungle.

Other facilities and amenities for a comfortable stay

Tropical Garden Bungalows has a small swimming pool at the top of the hill. The pool features a swim-up bar. Unfortunately, the water didn’t seem all that clean at the time of stay and so we skipped chilling out onsite and headed to the beach instead.

The reception is located at the bottom of the hill, at the resort’s entrance. If you’re an avid bookworm you’ll be delighted to find that there is a book exchange. The onsite restaurant / bar serves an assortment of Thai and European fare. Hamburgers, sandwiches, fried rice, and omelettes are just a few dishes you’ll find on the menu.

Laundry services are available and the friendly members of staff can assist with booking a range of activities, such as boat trips around the Phi Phi islands, fishing trips, mountain climbing, and in-room massages.

Get ready to walk!

The different buildings of Tropical Garden Bungalows are spread up the side of a hill, with the more expensive rooms typically found closer to the top. The paths can be steep, and many rooms have at least a few steps to climb to access them. This is not a good accommodation option for people with mobility difficulties. Additionally, it might not be ideal for visitors with lots of heavy luggage!

If you are okay with walking through leafy gardens, up steep inclines, and don’t mind accessing your room by steps, Tropical Garden Bungalows is beautiful!

Book your stay at Tropical Garden Bungalows to enjoy a serene and natural atmosphere within easy reach of Koh Phi Phi Don’s major beaches and centres of entertainment and leisure.
