Before you book a hotel for your NYC trip, here are a few tips about transportation in the city:
1. New York City looks pretty walkable, but don’t think that you will get away with walking everywhere. Even Manhattan is bigger than what it looks like!
2. Get a seven-day metro card. The price is 35 USD and you will get unlimited subway trips for seven days. (If you pay by card, use the Zip Code 99999).
3. Avoid above-ground transportation! The traffic in the city can get really mad. It will be much much quicker to just take the subway instead of a taxi or Uber.
4. Mostly for my ladies and solo travelers here, if you're traveling at night, and if it's within your possibilities, take an Uber/taxi. The subway in New York is great, but it can be a bit dodgy at night. You might feel safer if you take an Uber/taxi instead.
5. When taking the subway, make sure to see if you are going Downtown or Uptown! There are different entrances depending on the way you are going.
Extra tip: If you want to see the Statue of Liberty but can’t really afford a trip to the island, take the Staten Island Ferry. It’s free and you will be able to see the statue!

This hotel's excellent location also puts you only about a 10-minute drive away from Little Island. This is an attraction that you must add to your Big Apple bucket list. This public park opened its doors in May 2021. And, if like me, you prefer nothing more than exploring a city on foot, you’ll love this fresh take on an outdoor immersive experience. Visit in summer, and you can even catch a free outdoor concert or cabaret. Being the design nerds that we are, we grabbed a drink (yes, there are fantastic craft beers in its cute outdoor bar) and explored every architectural detail. But my top travel tip? Grab dinner at City Winery New York City after your visit for the best sunset views of the island from afar.
Here's an interesting fact: It's here, at Pier 54, where the survivors of the Titanic arrived in New York in 1912.
