The highest bungee jumping spot in India, it’s no wonder Rishikesh is at the top of our list. At a jumping height of 83 m (272 ft), you will certainly need to take deep breath of courage before making this jump. The jump location site is about 25 km (15.5 mi) outside the city at Mohan Chatti village, which is a great reason to go through a tour company so as not to worry about transportation.

The platform is built over a rocky ledge, making this something of a bungee jumper’s dreams. Surround yourself in the verdant and hilly terrain that is the trademark of Uttarakhand. Overlook the Ganges River and feel the power of your vantage point. Designed by New Zealand jumpers, the experience of bungee jumping in Rishikesh is truly a story to bring home.

Following the jump, don’t forget to pick up your Dare to Jump Certificate, proving your breathtaking experience. Being an expensive jump site, expect the bungee jumping prices here to play between 42-47 USD. Additionally, jumpers must be at least 12 years of age, and jumpers should note that to reach the jump point one must hike a strenuous 15-20 minutes. If you’re looking for a thrill, but don’t want to bungee, try the alternate “Giant Swing” or “Flying Fox”; essentially a zip-line which the participant is safely harnessed into.

As in any sport, there are important considerations to remember before embarking on one’s adventure. Bungee jumping is no exception, and being an extreme sport, practicing safe jumps is of highest concern. Once you’ve got all the safety concerns squared away, you can focus on the biggest hurdle; being brave enough to take the jump! Read below for important considerations:

  • Look for a reputable company whose top priority is safety. It helps to find companies that have been in business for a number of years, whose past experience can speak to their level of excellence. This is especially important in India as there are many new bungee jumping companies currently popping up.

  • Check the company’s age requirement. In general, jump age starts at 15, but some companies allow younger jumpers, and some companies have maximum age restrictions, such as no jumpers over 50 years.

  • Trust your instructors and trust yourself. Perhaps the biggest hurdle in making the jump is the mental one. 1-2-3, go!

  • Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing, and athletic shoes for the jump.

  • Never jump intoxicated, or while pregnant.

  • Those with neck injuries are discouraged from jumping, as well as anyone with preexisting heart conditions. Check with your doctor before jumping if you think you could get an exception to the health rule. A doctor’s note will be required.

  • Get ready to become a life-long bungee jumper! Once your first jump is over, you’ll be ready for the next! It’s addicting!
