Located in the ideally central location of the Bulgarian capital, Hostel Mostel Sofia is an excellent choice of accommodation for low-budget travellers. They are the only hostel in Sofia that offers en-suite rooms with a bright, spacious, and clean atmosphere. The city’s main attractions including markets, restaurants, bars, and clubs are just about five minutes from their doorstep. Read on to explore further why this uniquely setup hostel is awesome!
They promise great deals with no hidden fees
Hostel Mostel offers some of the best accommodation packages in town, including breakfast, a glass of beer, and dinner (e.g. pasta) with prices ranging from 10 EUR, approximately 10.97 USD for an 8-bed dorm with a shared bathroom, up to 25 EUR, or 27.22 USD, for a single private room. A locker, or use of the hotel’s iron and hair dryers can also be used for free. There is a 10 percent discount applicable if you stay for over 3 nights or go in a group of over 3 people. You are also free to cook your own meal in their fully-equipped kitchen.
Big common room with welcoming atmosphere
Their big sitting area is a great place to relax, chill, and enjoy a conversation with other guests. The receptionist team is absolutely friendly and eager to answer all questions you may have, regarding the stay and how to get around the city which they know by heart. There are several computers, a pool table, and a 42 inch plasma screen television that is free for guests to use in the main lounge.
Awesome renovated facilities
Hostel Mostel is built in a newly renovated traditional Bulgarian house. Mixed dorms are equipped with new comfy thick mattresses, fresh and clean sheets, blankets, and pillows. Wooden floors and the green surroundings will make you feel cozy and comfortable during your stay. Fast Wi-fi connection is available throughout the entire building.
You will be guided through what to do in and out of Sofia
During the check-in, free city maps and recommendations based on your preferences are given. You can also borrow books from the receptionist. Sofia’s centre area is quite small and walkable. You can either take a walking tour with a local, offered by the hostel at a small cost, or explore the city on your own. There are a bunch of ancient ruins, museums, churches, galleries, and restaurants. I personally enjoyed visiting the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Vitosha Boulevard, the main shopping street, a lot.
Extra tours outside of Sofia are offered
To bring extra values for the guests, the staff team also organizes day trips for guests, including trips to the UNESCO World Heritage Rila Monastery, the Vitosha Mountain, Koprivshtitsa village, Boyana Church, and the National Historical Museum. These are some of the best spots to enjoy gorgeous landscapes and historical monuments at the same time in the suburb of Sofia. Just register at the reception desk and they will organize transportations and guides for you.
Other branches of Hostel Mostel
With everything that you can expect from a quality hostel, Hostel Mostel offers absolute amazing packages for travellers. They also run another branch in Veliko Tarnovo, an off-the-beaten-track destination that is a few hours away from Sofia by bus. This is also a must-visit town that is not far from the famous Hotnitsa Waterfall and other amazing eco-trails in Bulgaria.
