There are only about 96,000 inhabitants on the island, making Langkawi a crowd-free zone as well. The island can only be reached by air and sea. If you’re traveling by land in peninsular Malaysia, which is more cost-effective but time-consuming, there are four jetty points where you can head to and take a ferry ride all the way to Langkawi: Tamalang, Penang, Kuala Kedah, and Kuala Perlis. To reach Langkawi by air, any airport in Malaysia has direct flights to the island.
