Punting at River cam Punting at River cam

Enjoy peaceful moments punting in beautiful Cambridge. Glide along serene waters, taking in the charm of the historic city. It's a relaxing experience that lets you connect with Cambridge's history and scenic beauty, making your visit truly memorable. People have been punting on the River Cam for the last hundred years. In the olden days, this was where trade goods used to come up from France and England on barges that were pulled by horses that actually walked in the river. They were taken all the way up to the centre of Cambridge, where they were offloaded and sent off to other parts of England.

In the other picture, you can also see the tall spires of King's College Chapel. It's a perpendicular gothic-style chapel and took 100 years to build. To the left of that is Clare College, which was built in the 14th century by Lady Elizabeth de Clare and rebuilt in the 16th century.

Basically, what we do is we go into the chapel and then we walk down to the river. And then we go to King's College Bridge, which is just on the right.

Great St. Mary's Church Great St. Mary's Church1

Are you a keen photographer? I don't mean a professional but a keen amateur. Did you know that a £6 ticket entry to the tower of Great St Mary's Church allows you, on a sunny day, to take great pictures of, among other things, the great lawn areas of King's College? I hope you don't suffer from claustrophobia, though, because the spiral staircase going up the tower spiral has 123 steps. Once at the rooftop terrace you'll see it's worth it!!

It would be rare if, inside King's College Chapel, you wouldn't take many photos of its vault, its organ, its choir stalls, and its stained glass windows. It has been said that the organ is the king among all instruments. Come and hear King's College Chapel's organ and you'll agree.

The Chapel is now one of the most famous tourist attractions in Cambridge but it is still actively used both as a place of worship and also as an event center.
