I have to start with my favorite so far, and this is Benjamin Steakhouse which is at 2 minutes away from Piata Mare on a peaceful street of the Old Town. Although their specialty is the beef, you can find a great variety in their menu from chicken, pork, and lamb to great salads. If you’re here for lunch you can try a burger with delicious fries and if you want to take dinner here, you’ll have enough time to wait for a full steak. Also, be sure to book your table before coming to this restaurant.

2. Crama Sibiul Vechi

If you want to try some traditional Romanian food, this can be a great place to get used to their kind of food. You might want to try some traditional soup with hot pepper and continue with some grilled meat or sarmale. The place is also in the center of the city and can be found very easily even if it’s established in a place similar to a wine cellar. Well, that’s what “crama” actually means.

3. Old Lisbon

In the lower city, very close to the biggest fresh market and the river of Cibin, you can find an excellent Portuguese restaurant. The name speaks for itself, but not everybody knows that you can try all sorts of dishes from the Portuguese cuisine right in the historic center of Sibiu.

4. Hochmeister

Another place very close to the Piata Mare is the Hochmeister Restaurant which has great interior design, but if you’re here on a beautiful day and it’s sunny but not too hot, you will definitely want to eat or drink your brew at the tables arranged outside the restaurant. The menu isn’t very broad, but you can find some excellent dishes here for some reasonable prices.

5. Jacob Grill House

If you visit the zoo or the ASTRA Museum and get hungry, this is the best place you should visit. It is somehow similar to the first restaurant, Benjamin Steakhouse, but they prepare all the food in a wood fire for a better flavor. They also have great burgers, and I can’t really tell which ones are better, but maybe you’ll have the chance to find out.

6. Crama Ileana

Here we have another traditional restaurant with Romanian food. It’s outside of the Old Town, in a very close neighborhood and it also has a pension in the same building. As with the previous Romanian restaurant, this is also decorated as a wine cellar for a more rustic approach in terms of style.

7. Pardon Cafe & Bistro

This restaurant is located in one of the most beautiful streets of Sibiu, very close to the inner fortress wall and right in front of Sala Thalia, the place of the National Philharmonic. You can get some food in the restaurant or even on the wide terrace of the cobblestone paved street. You will find out that even in the evenings, the terrace is very crowded and people enjoy spending time in this place.

The Italian restaurant is located in the middle of Nicolae Balcescu Street, at only 3-4 minutes away from the Piata Mare. You can try anything from a wide range of Pasta and Pizza to some great desserts with ice cream. You should also know that the coffee here is excellent, so you can rely on this place for any hot beverage.

Just at a few steps from the Piata Mare, with a small entrance, you can find one of the greatest coffee-shops in Sibiu. They serve great coffee that you can drink there, but you can also grab a good-to-go cup of coffee if you are passing by. Besides that, you can buy your different flavors of tea or coffee and prepare them at home.

Besides the great coffee and tea, this place also offers excellent desserts, great music, friendly employees and also great WiFi that makes this place an awesome stop by for digital nomads.

Last but not the least we have a great chain of fast-food restaurants with very good prices, and for regular travelers that don’t want to spend too much money on food in the city, these restaurants are a great choice.
