Thrill-seekers who want to add some mystery and adventure while visiting Wisconsin should head towards the east coast where they will find an underwater graveyard of hundreds of sunken ships. Lauded for its notorious sites of marine disasters, the Great Lakes is today home to some 1,500 shipwrecks and has ever since been a hotspot for divers who are curious to know more. And if you are daring enough then find a 252-foot (76.8 meters) wooden-hulled steamship known as the Lady Elgin. Having sunk in 1860, it resulted in the most open water deaths in the history of the Great Lakes.
16. Explore eclectic items at Jacobsen Museum
Located in Potawatomi village in the Washington Island, the small quaint Jacobson Museum displays an interesting collection of some natural and historical artifacts of the region. One of the main highlights of the collection is the remains of the Louisiana shipwreck but there are also some ship models that have been hand-carved by Jacobsen himself. Jacobsen was behind the creation of this museum which was built in 1931. The island itself is an attraction in itself as it used to have one of the earliest coral reefs.

By far, Peninsula State Park is no doubt the most visited park because of its wide range of outdoor activities from camping (over 400 camping sites) to hiking, biking, and horseback riding. But visitors can also enjoy skiing on its 16 miles (26 km) of double-tracked ski trails. Most of these ski trails are color-coded, making it easier to find the trail. Trails vary from easy to difficult which of course attracts a range of skiers. Those who are 16 and older will need a state trail pass to access any of the peninsula’s trails.
