8. Tour the historic Mothia archaeological site
Mothia or Mozia is an archaeological site between Trapani and Marsala. It is the biggest island in Stagnone Natural Reserve, which was built by the Phoenicians in the 12th-century BC. It has a small museum and extensive ruins for you to explore. The museum is devoted to displaying artifacts recovered from the islands. The most interesting and wondrous fact about this island is that it is spread over 45 hectares (111 acres), and despite the area of the land, the Phoenicians made the best use of the space available. Extensive research has found out that the streets were narrow and the buildings were high. The Phoenicians also built a causeway to the island, which is still in existence, however, it is just below the water level now. If you love anything to do with ancient ruins, archaeology, or exploration, this place should be on your list. To get to the island, you have to take a ferry.
